Need your opinions please

This forum has helped me so much in my road to recovery. Thanks so much to everyone. I have a question that I need some input on on a different subject but I thought I'd ask it since I value your opinions so much.

There is a co-worker at my job who we just found out today that he has a semi-automatic rifle in his truck that is parked right outside. He is a young kid, just turned 21, and the stories he tells make him sound violent and dumb. He is having problems with his g/f and he harrasses her at her job which is just down the road from my job and supposedly he pistol whipped one of her male co-workers for talking to her. Also, supposedly he tied up his g/f and her mother at gunpoint when they threatened to not let him see his boy. The manager in the back shop where he works has seen his temper and she is afraid to reprimend him on anything. And my boss is one who if he doesn't see it then it doesn't exist. We have gone to him (the boss)  before about people drinking on the job ( we have found the empty bottles and also found full beers in the fridge) but he claims it must be the gardeners and we need to mind our own business. Mind you, I work at a metal finishing shop where these guys are working with chemicals and such.

So my question is, should we go the boss or make an anonymous call to the police about the gun?

On a better note, going on 4 months clean from vic's and I couldn't have done it without everyones support.

First don't let him ever work for the post office. This is a bad situation. If he tied up the g/f and mother why don't they press charges. I would stay away from him and maybe try to catch him with a video camera.

No the boss is the owner as well. We have not even approached him about this yet because we figure he'll just blow us off. Another co-worker has actually seen the rifle so we know it's there. I have never seen any violence displayed from this guy but the stories he tells are very violent. For all we know he is just a story teller (he is just a kid after all.) But my thinking is that if he has such a high caliber (not to mention illegal) weapon in his vehicle, then he must be afraid of someone or not be afraid to use it. We are also kinda afraid of someone pulling a driveby or something here at the office because he speaks of some gang style going ons that he is involved in.

That is a TOUGH one...but I guess if your boss isn't going to do anything about it you may try the anonymous call to the police...however, if nothing happens and he goes home enraged it could put the g/f's life in danger. Man...I don't know on this one at all. Is there a boss over your boss that will listen? Also, you could contact OSHA (is that in every state?) about the beer at work...that is a violation I am sure.

Sorry I wasn't helpful..but a huge congratulations on your 4 months! I would like to know how this turns out...and I will keep you and the people involved in my prayers!
