this may sound funny but when i was a lil tyke, i took karate. not sure what it is called after all these years. start with a ten count to calm a lil. then breath in thru your nose a full breath , hold a few seconds , and out thru the mouth. keep doin this slowly, and it will bring that racing heart beat down !! i will do a search and see if i can find a link that better describes it , but that is pretty much how it goes . i have to remember when it happens to me that it is part of the" clean up" and the issue im stressing over is just small stuff! daddy said never sweat the small stuff right.
33 Days.... YEAH!!
Yes anxiety is so totally normal! Just to give you a little example...
My in-laws always host a new years breakfast at 10am sharp New years morning. I have been in the family for 5 years now. I hadn't quit c/t yet, but, I had tapered down over half.
We arrive at my in-laws house and we walk in the door and instantly I felt a rush of heat and had to find a place to sit down, my heart was pounding out of my chest and was a panic mess! I had not, at that time told anyone about my addiction so I felt so confined to my panic. Like I couldn't let anyone know I was coming unglued... horrible feeling! A week or so later I quit c/t and had to tell my husband so that maybe he would understand if I had another onset of panic. It will get better, you are doing so great, hang in there!!!
Good idea with the breathing thing. Do you have one you recommend? Is there a way I can do it without the people with me noticing?
not sure about opiates, cocaine is my doc. but i know that i have the same anxiety over some things when i get a few weeks clean. mine usually subside around 2 1/2 months. but my wife says after that i actually start to get OCD symptoms. something i have to check out . good luck and try a breathing excersize, they help me thru my really hard attacks!!
yes 22 days today and anx is high keep up the good work
