inhaling mothballs and naphthalene deodorizers

I cannot stop inhaling these. I have to inhale them a few times daily until i feel a "high". I'm an otherwise normal woman. I am being treated for depression, but i'm functional and no one would ever guess that I'm ill. So why can't I stop this addiction to the smell of mothballs and naphthalene deodorizers that smell mothball like. Could there be a nutritional deficiency? I've read that it could be a lack of iron. How dangerous is this problem and what am I doing to my body?

Hi I used to eat them OMG they taste like glory to me ... But the true story is that they were killing me I got like 8 blood transfusion as a result of my bad habits and I promise my self to quit it if I wanted to live longer... I still love how they smell n I want to have then around all the time... I used to have it in my purse in the car... I would place them around the house so I can smell then... And Every time I go to the store I have to buy a box of mothballs I'm really addicted to this stuff I need help...

I have the same addiction but I eat them. So far nothing bad has happened but I know it's killing me. I'm also an alcoholic and a smoker. Why do I do this to myself?

I don't know if it can be connected at all to some type of vitamin deficiency .I would come clean with your doctor and ask for help.You are not alone there are many others that have the same addictions .Good luck ...stick around there is tons of support here.
