On again and off again....on again and off again

Well, I was taking really small doses of oxycodone for a month straight (about 10 to 20 mg a day) and I weaned off it with no problem....well with bearable withdrawals. I was off for about 5 days and I went and started using again. I used about 5 to 10 mg for about a week and then I stopped again. My withdrawals were not bad and almost non-existent except that I now have this scratchy throat and I cough all night long. Is this a normal symptom? I was so tired of it last night that I took 5 mg and it subsided but I still coughed but not as much. I want to just be done with this stuff but what can I do to ease my cough??? Also, how long do you have to take oxy in order to get the really bad withdrawal symptoms?

I get that too. Opiates suppress your cough reflex so when you go off of them you're prone to respiratory illnesses. You can ask your doctor for Tessalon Perles. They are non narcotic and basically numb your throat so you don't cough as much.

To answer how long you have to take it to get bad WD is something I personally am not willing to answer because I don't want anyone thinking they can take it for a certain amt. of time....I guess I won't "give permission".
Coughing is a symptom for some once they get off but the severity and how long it persists vary. Try a throat lozenge and drink plenty of fluids. Best of luck to you.
