How are you doing pat?
I hope you are resting now. Tomorrow's a new day. And one more behind you.
Talk to you tomorrow pat.
:-) keep your head up.
Everyone is right pat. Think of where you where just one week ago.
And where are you now?
ON YOUR WAY TO A CLEAN AND SOBER LIFE!!!!
YEA YOU!!!!
What i keep thinking is how i used to enjoy getting out of bed having a cup of coffee and looking out the windows at a new day. Going out on the deck if it was summer. I really miss that. And i know you probably do to.
Keep up the wonderful work pat. ((Hugs)) to you.
Pat, I am so happy for you. The first week is a tough one and you are doing it! I promise you..each week gets better and better as your brain starts to wake up. Please be kind to yourself and enjoy the new you.
So damn proud of you girl!!!! You deserve this!!! Guard that clean time!! Clog my inbox if you need to talk, and STAY STRONG!!!! Proud of you!!! Congrats and hugs to you!! xoxo :)
The "group" at intake may be so more than one counselor can observe, ask questions and put their heads together as to what will be best for you.
When I was in trmt, after my test results, group sessions, etc. a group of counselors reviewed "me" ha! I actually like that approach, as we are all so diff in our approaches and opinions. That way, it was a group consensus as to what they thought I needed rather than just one person.
I felt it was better than just my "group" counselor, or my one-on-one counselor because they all experienced diff sides of me depending on the situation they saw me in.
You won't be nervous on your way home......you'll probably be singin!!
Sorry...YOU'RE doing great!! I need to go back to school, REALLY! :(
I just have to know how many days it took you to reach the peak of feeling your worst? And when did it begin going down hill and getting better?
Lisa

start congratulating YOURSELF. you're the one doing the work here!
thanks for the push. I wouldn't have done it without you.
that's all you gotta do, pat. just keep doing the work.. the rest will come!
I'm really trying to be open minded this time. I know I have been pretty close minded in the past and it didn't work.
I just really feel this time that using is not an option.
Even when I have cravings, I rush to do something about them.
I know it's very early and I have so much to learn and do to stay clean.
Monday's appt. will be a big step and i hope it's productive.
I will wait and see.
OK I get it (duh) - sorry! And that's good. You can feel comfortable going. Stay open-minded and just hear what they have to say.
Quiet in the Employment Centre that you have to walk thru and see the same receptionist for the Drug Addiction Councilor. I will be nervous enough.
Quote Kyle has said many times
Insanity: doing the same thing over and over again and expecting different results.

And one I have from Sara it on a post it note on my bathroom mirror still
Getting clean going through the physical withdraws is the easy part Staying Clean thats the Hard part(when the real work begins).
Think about those quotes I do alot :))
Pat The type of aftercare I go to is a Group its 4 of us and an addiction counselor The lady that is head of our group is AMAZING! i met her at a NA meeting I went in to try it and I guess she could tell when i was leaving that I wasnt comfortable and she told me about smaller group Meetings and she just reached out to me we went and sat in her car and talked for 2 hours. I am telling you w/o the group meetings I would not still be clean . Everyone in my group is close in time One girl has more time but the other 3 of us are within a month of each other and we just Molded together and this group we meet sometimes 3 times a week but this month its been 2 times a week and that may seem like alot or not enough but its perfect and if we need to meet or talk I can pick up phone and call anyone of the people in my group and they can call me also. Its only been almost 5 months now that I have been in this group and I cant imagine my life w/o this in my life. If you try some type of aftercare and you dont like it dont give up try other types there are many types available.
It does make a difference in your sobriety. And helps you learn alot about being addicted to your DOC and you get tools to help you change yourself and become healthy and this doesnt happen overnight it takes time each day I am learning and getting support to keep myself on the right road to recovery and when I start doing something that anyone in my group feels is redflag they call me on it and we work it out.
I know I might be rambling my point is Pat find what works for you whether it be NA one on one counseling or group of people . Just make sure you remember it is VITAL to your sobriety. AFTERCARE and Getting rid of your PILLSOURCE .
What do you mean? "quiet in there"? I'm missing something!
lol, I can just imagine. Well, this is just an assessment so I think anything goes. They didn't ask anything about my addiction or if I was using so I don't know what to expect.
You have to go through this huge room which is an Employment Centre and there is a little door for the addiction councilor. Hopefully since it's not until 4pm, it will be quiet in there.
I was in a group where people were still using and it was NOT tolerated by the others. They thought we could be fooled every time! Nope! It's very easy to tell when someone is still using... It really pissed me off when that happened, too! And I told them! As you can imagine...lol
Good thinking Vicki, The rest of the group will probably still be using lol.
Just kidding group.
But yes, that is much easier to say. I will do it. There is no turning back now.
If no one had pushed US, we wouldn't be here right now...And let me tell you, it was much easier to tell a stranger about my addiction than anyone close to me! But you only need to do it once. Its easy after that...it's even easier when you can say: I WAS addicted to Percocet; I'M CLEAN NOW...
I am making a nice dinner and going to watch tv. It's Friday night and I get to relax and enjoy it.
One more day clean. One more day closer to getting my life back.
Have you ever noticed how hugs feel better when you are clean? How the fresh air feels better when you are clean? I am just noticing a couple of the things that feel better. I know there are so many more things but so far I like it. I really, really like it.
That's right, it doesn't work and most of us had to find that out the hard way (me included). But that's okay, pat, because you're staying open-minded about everything and that's exactly what we have to do. Honestly, if we knew how to get clean, we wouldn't be in the mess we're in to begin with. We need help and there's no shame in that. Everybody needs help sometime in their lives. Why we put so much pressure on ourselves, sheesh!
And you almost have another day under your belt so try not to let yourself get depressed tonight or get too much in your own head. This is a good thing you're doing for yourself, pat, so don't forget that.
Try a good movie, something to make you laugh (or cry - those helped me too). Or do a simple chore around the house. It will help.
The only advice I can give is to just keep moving forward! I know I say that over and over again! Some days it will be very small things, other days it will be huge tasks! You will get through all of this in your own time! Don't let yourself get overwhelmed! For me, it is so easy to do, and that is when I crave the worst!
Take care my dear friend! I'm behind you all the way no matter what you chose! I know you will choose and clean, happy, and healthy life! You are well on your way!
