Whenever a newbie decides to go to meetings, I am so relieved for them. Yay for you! Dominosarah said something very succinct about all this in another thread: you gotta step out of your comfort zone.
When you go to NA, you don't have to do anything but sit in the seat. I highly recommend raising your hand as a newcomer; you will get support like you can't believe. Also, and this is from other's experience, if you put it off, it gets less and less likely you will go. Go tomorrow. You won't be less nervous next week. You're gonna be nervous no matter what, so be nervous and do it anyway, right? The only thing you have to lose is feeling like sh!te!:)
Its OK to be nervous about going!!! Its a new experience and you dont know what to expect!!! What youll find is a room full of addicts who are working on staying clean!!! Youll find so much support there and hopefully want to keep going back!!! You are doing a great job! Keep on going!!!
@cricketk92 thank you so much! yes i am doing pretty well :) and all of you have helped me!! you are all such an inspiration to me... I did google when some NA meetings are in my area and i found a few good one..I will most likely attend one next week when I'm feeling a little less anxious around new people and telling them my problems lol I've never been to an NA meeting it kinda makes me nervous
Congrats on Day 6!!! You have made it this far and are doing great!!! The physical stuff may linger around for awhile! I felt nauseous on and off until day 28 and the lack of energy hangs on too but it does come back!!! SO glad your boyfriend is there to help you through this!!! Are you thinking about maybe going to a meeting or some counseling? It really will help! Support is the most important thing once the physical part passes!!! You can even start with AA or NA meetings online! I have been doing one at 130 every day and though its not the same as being there in person it is still support and you can share your struggles!!! Keep hanging in there!! Youre doing awesome!!! XO Karen
