Opiates, I have to stop

I have been taking Percocet off and on for around two years. After reading many posts from other people dealing with the same addiction, I feel that my addiction is still a small one. I typically take anywhere from 4-8 5/325 mg Percocet on a daily basis. That's about 40 mg. Oxycodone daily for the better part of two years.
I need to stop. I have tried many times but never made it more than 24 hours. The only withdrawal symptoms I have felt were the chills and major irratiability and anger and depression.
My question is what would you suggest for a habit as small as mine? A detox program? Rehab? Or should I just go cold turkey. Also how long will the withdrawals last and how bad do you think they will get?
Thank you in advance to anyone who answers.

At your dosage level I suggest a taper too if you're able to stick to one.  I would simply take one less pill a day for a week, then do the same the week after an so on.

Spread out your pills never taking more than 1 at a time.  If you are at 6, take them every 4 hours.

If you find yourself cheating on the taper, flush and go ct.  It really shouldn't be too bad OR long for you at that level of usage.  AT you level, no more than 5 days of feeling crappy.

Rehab or detox????  I would try NA or a counsellor.  You are so wise to arrest this problem now before it grows (and it will).

Everyone is here to help, don't hesitate to keep asking!!!!!!

Goodluck and Godspeed,

Tapering is way more comfortable. It still ***** don't get me wrong. But right now I'm telling myself that I am going to live through it and that's helping me. I'm on day 5 of being off.
Best wishes :-)
