The clonidine helps from the aspect it lowers one's blood pressure reliving some of the wd stress on one's system during your sleep hours..You will not notice much of a difference using it but it does help..Do not take more than directed though. It is not a sleeping pill. If you take too much (more than directed), it could drop your Blood pressure too low causing a stroke..I had a stern warning from the doctor about this...If you could structure a weaning/tapering program with your Dr, that would be best in combination with the clonidine to get away from the dependence you've developed witht he pain meds..It does make a huge difference in the wd symptoms when one finally stops..You will also learn as you become more acquainted with the wd process that the physical part during the 1st week is the least of your worries. The mental routine that has developed is the biggest challenge in breaking free..And that is what will hound you for everybit of a month, if not 2 after quitting....Dav
Welcome. I just saw your post. I was addicted to Oxy OC80MG, morphine and heroin, pretty much anything I could get my greedy little hands on. Will your doctor taper you off of the pain meds? That I think would be the easiest way if you have a lot of self control. It helps to have someone hold on to ur pills and only give them to you as prescribed by ur doctor. I am not a Doctor or in the medical field I am only a recovery addict and this is just my thoughts. Been clean 1 v1/2 v yrs. I was on a clonidine patch and didn't have much luck with it, but everones body is different. If the clonidine is prescribed by a doctor it doesn't hurt to try it. I ended up going the methadone route which I regret now. Good luck to you. Message me anytime you want.
Hello and welcome to the site. From what I understand, especially with medications so potent, it might be better to wean or taper off these medications, however, I am not positive. There is the Thomas recipe and that might help you. You will be getting more answers and you will get support here if you want it. I am going through withdrawals of norco, so your situation is larger on the scale. Please give it some time for the other posters, they do care but there are a few reasons why it might take a while (people working, sleeping, it being a weekend, or the post being buried. So you can bump your post up if needed. Feel free to send me a message if you need to talk someone, if I am online, I will answer. Good luck until then.
