PLEASE ANSWER EVERYONE - Do you think the Methadone will help with my Sleep?

I know i have posted alot... but another one of my problems is i have a serious sleep issue, along with being Bi-poliar and I HAVE ADHD, and an anxiety disorder.  Im weening myself of the Klonopins (were starting me on a beta blocker for anxiety due to the methadone program), I take 0.1 mg Clonodine, and 200-400mgs Seroquel everynight.  Ive heard that it will make you somewhat tired.  But do they mean tired by the time you go to bed, or tired all throughout the day and falling asleep wherever you go.  Im just afraid of being sedated.  If i feel messed up, does that mean the does of methadone is too high, and if that happens what should i do?  This is my first time for treatment of opiates and im nervous... all i know is that im doing a good thing for myself by starting the maintenece. I dont want to shoot anymore (the craving is still raging in my head), I want to change my life for the better.  I am very nervous, but i know people that said that the program Im going to was the best descision they ever made.  Plus I live in Baltimore which is the heroin capitol.  Im doing this program thats far away from the city so i wont be triggered to go cop.  Believe me, B-More aint no joke, every other person here has an opiate or cocaine addiction.  Please respond guys...thanks

Normally I would tell people not to go on methadone maintenance, but from reading another one of your posts it sounds like it might be what you need to keep clean.  My husband has been on methadone for many years and in all those years he's never used any illegal drugs and he doesn't want to.  However, the main reason he went on methadone was for pain and abuse of pain medications.
That being said, on the methadone he has a tendency to fall asleep in the afternoon.  He says it's something to do with the half life of methadone.  He also has sleeping problems - falling asleep easily but waking up many times during the night.  He takes Ambien for that and has been taking it long term - another addiction he'll have to deal with sometime.
I'm pulling for you to get better - either with the methadone or without.  I remember reading one of your previous posts and thinking that in your case maybe methadone would be justified.  It's better to be on methadone and alive than dead from a drug overdose.  It's got plenty of drawbacks, but you can live a normal life on methadone.

I am also taking Seroquel and I dont think you need to worry about it making you tired all day.  It doesnt really do that.  It calms you down and makes you drowsy but if you just take it at night., before bed...it should be okay.  I am only taking it for 10 days and then I am off.  Its non addictive, but still...who needs yet another pill to deal with?  It sounds like you are battling alot of stuff.  Whatever you choose to do, you know if its right or not.  I know how hard it is, but you are not alone

You should really start your own question. That way you will get lots of comments on it. Just go to the top of the page and hit post a question. By the way, I sent you a PM, check your inbox.. We can also talk about the xanax if you would like...

I agree with Eagle, Methadone can be hell. But herion is no joke either. For you this may be the right thing to do. I have used it before. It will help with the sleep. I did not get good sleep with it. I would sleep 3 or 4 hrs then up an hour or so. But everyone is different. I read that they are starting you on 30mgs. Here they only will start you on 25mgs. And you can go up 5mgs every 2 days. Remember it take a few days for it to build up.. You will have to play around to find the right dose for you. I ended up doing better on 20mgs a day. Anymore was just to much. Could not stay awake In the afternoons. As it was, i was in bed by 7pm..

Good luck,

I am one of then that calls methadone the drug from hell - but having said that - there is no nice easy answer for an opiate habit yet.....mehtadone did get me out of circulation from the crowd that always had "goodies" so that was a positive. The clinic was unrealistic and I cold turkeyed the methadone....not a wise decidion. Some people would say to go the sub route .... buprenorphine ..... known in slang as methadone light......just not enough info yet on use and ceasation to make that decision. But if the choice is between a maintanance program and street use - go with the program...and good luck to you. I am also available to chat if you ever wish -
