You know, this is LA, does it ever pay for anything????  lol, I believe in Louisiana, which is where I'm at, Medicare only pays a portion and for ONLY SO MANY MONTHS!  Most drs out here offer a monthly coupon to help with the cost but if your going to pay cash, GET READY!!!  That's what I did and yes, it's up there.  If you don't mind me asking, what are you detoxing from to go to the subs? I was on opiates for about 6 years and was told, repeatedly that doing the subs was overkill.  The w/d from opiates is 5/6 days the subs, LONGER!  If you do decide to do them, take them for as short a period of time that you can b/c subs can be just as dangerous as any other drug we take.

There are many programs, one is from the manufacturer. I was offered a year free and another year if my doctor said I need it. I only took it 20 days though, so I had the pharmacy TARP the meds. I had to wait 3 days to get them, but government medical insurance paid for it. They don't make the programs easy to find, so ask your doctor and pharmacist, pharmacists are usually ore knowledgable and helpful imo. It is rather expensive, so I would go to the pharmacy now to see what they can tell you. Subs saved my life, no doubt, but I do agree with the above, educate yourself and do the whole program. I was told I had to take them 2yrs minimum for them to work, so my doctor was very little help with my plan. Dr. Scanlan of Palm Beach Detox Center has some good articles on subs. His example is this, in his facility, methadone is a $2000 detox, long term sub use is $5000 detox, that is a direct reflection of how long and hard it is to quit subs after long term use. Be smart, be your own advocate, you are the client and have the right to refuse advice that is not sound, but you have to know if it is sound or not to make those decisions. Keep us posted.

Medicare pays a small amount. Not sure. Depends on your Rx Plan. Good luck. I would never touch the subs if I knew what I know now. Do your research. Ask questions regarding how long and be well informed.
