Please help with detox answers

hi i've posted two questions alas no one has responded.  Am on day two of detox though I am still on a tiny amount of opiate-I was too scared to cold turkey as the last time I did I had seizures.  This time however I have clonidine-and I am finding it is making it bearable enough to sleep for short periods of time.  I also am taking the L-Tyrosine and vitamins from The Thomas Recipe.  I would like to drop the rest of the opiates and just get this over with-if the clonidine continues to work this way.  will it?  Or is this going to get worst?  Please respond.  I am scared.

I think calling that outreach worker is a good plan.  We want you to be safe during your detox.  Let us know what she says and how you are doing~~sara

More likely the abrupt cessation of the benzo brought on that seizure.  But better to be safe rather than sorry and taper as best you can.

I'm sorry we missed the other threads - and this place can be quiet on Sundays.  Hang in there - you're doing the right thing by wanting to quit so you'll get there you just need to do that slowly.  It will get better though I can promise you that.  But best to stay connected to your Dr.'s while doing this to avoid any future seizures.  Try a hot shower or bath with epsom salts - that will help lessen the anxiety for a bit.

Thanks VIcki.  I think the seizures occurred because I dropped off benzo's at the same time.  I have oxazepam to take at night to sleep.  I am going to call a outreach worker tomorrow to see if she will help monitor my detox.

If you had seizures in the past I don't think it would be wise to ever cold turkey again. Your seizure threshold is way too low.

Clonidine is wonderful and it does help with all the symptoms but it doesn't "cover" seizures. I think the small taper that you're doing is very smart. Keep taking that "tiny amount of opiate" and then taper that down.
It shouldn't get worse.

I know it's Sunday so you can't reach your doctor but please call tomorrow and speak with him/her. If you're too scared to wait, just call and speak with whomever is on call.
