Quitting opiates&want help2ease w/d??

So many people come here asking what helps to ease w/d as well as whether to taper or cold turkey&if we know what works and what doesnt etc.PLEASE members add to this post with ur info on these things too.I see often new to the site asking for a taper schedule for opiates/benzos etc. As much as we want2help we CANT give u specific tapers because we dont know of others pre exsisting issues&dnt want2put u n danger.Genral tips we can do though.
COMMON QUESTIONS
Taper or C/T:the answer is simple.We dnt know what works for u.Also some meds (benzos4 example)have2b tapered NO c/t on those.Also a taper SHOULD b set up by a professional health care provider.Also most addicts cant sucessfully taper off opiates on there own.Because of that c/t is what most of us do.People get so freaked out@the thought of w/d&get so scared if them but all that does is have addicts put off getting clean out of unnecessary fear.BUT DNT C/T off of methadone or subs(u will be n a unnecessary amount of LONG misery u dnt need to be)with those meds u should taper down slowly2the lowest amount possible as n tiny slivers/almost nothing then jump2make that a lot easier.As4 opiate PILLS(perks,tabs,vikes,oxycodone,roxicodone, oxycontin etc)Its medically safe2c/t from them. people ask all the time if u can die from w/d from them.NO U CANNOT as long as u have no other underlying medical issues).Tramadol: People often think these r no big deal.WRONG. they r not considered2b a strong opiate compared2the others I named BUT 99%of drs say they r not addictive&there not a controlled substance or addictive.WRONG.Also they can cause seizures if taken4a long period,high doses etc. they have an anti depressant element2them as well so a slow taper is needed on these(depression will b awful if u quit abruptly&depression will kick ur butt).
WHAT HELPS WITH W/D SYMPTOMS FROM THE OPIATES I NAMED ABOVE(PILLS NOT
BENZOS,TRAMS,SUBS,METHADONE THOUGH AS I said above slow taper).

MUST HAVES:NAME BRAND IMMODIUM(not generic as name brand works much better& differently than generic taking2-3X's recommended dose those first few days.I dnt know the technical way2explain.Put simply name brand immodium(n higher than recommended doses)helps w/not just diareah but will help w/other w/d symptoms too(take generously).It works sort of like an opiate n the way it will take the tummy stuf away+it will also help w/leg cramping,nausea+other symtoms but obviously u wnt ever get buzzed off it lol.Take for only a few days during w/d n large doses though.In the THOMAS RECIPE it says a small amount of bezos(longer acting the better like valium,klonopin etc)I was prescribed xanax myself took em during my detox but they r the shortest acting of all benzos.They help w/those few days of awful anxiety.U can go w/o the benzo as some do.Also MANY otc/all natural remedies(I tell u about other options too all can b found otc@drug store,definitely@walmart)ask the pharmacist whats best if u wnt otc meds.I cnt remember the name but u can get a tea@walmart/walmart.com etc thats supposed2b amazing4anxiety.Been told it works as good as xanax for example.A friend here who is AWESOME Gnarly told me about it+I can look4the name&will post that.U will need something for a little while to help with sleep too.Some use the benzo4that but u can get non addctive otc stuff too like any  p.m med.I was(still am)shocked cause I tried all the diff. ones decided2try something all natural and it works amazing(this is from.some1who NEVER thought that stuff works)I take melaton extended release(2keep u asleep all night)Now I can take1/5mg pill&go2sleep n30-45min. when I wasnt taking benzos2Sleep n w/d I took1+1/2-2of them(just7.5-10mg@once)slept  all night.Other options r alteril(sp?)it has3things2help sleep.

Thank You.. That was good..You know you taught me about my c/t on the benzo..So I sure do pass that one on..And Yes a DR is the way to go for the taper issue..You are just to good there girl....I hope to bump this back up..It is full of great information...

Options for all otc remedies available.If u can get2c a dr(pcp,pain management, therapist, e.r.) 100%honesty u can get meds like clonidine a blood pressure med commonly prescibed ir opiate w/d&helps a ton.Also they can give u small amounts of other meds to ease w/d.If u want a taper schedule or ANY plan they will give it to u.
