Rapid detox from methadone and naltrexone implants

I am interested to hear from anyone who has been through a rapid detox following methadone or heroin addiction and then had a naltraxone implant.  I have been clean for 18 months after having two naltrexone implants but can't find anyone else who has managed to come off after using such a high dose of methadone (300 ml per day).  Would also be interested to hear about any side effects from naltrexone and rapid detox, as I have experienced depression, anxiety and Delirium tremors and extreme aggression!

I have been going through something very similar to you. You were on 200mg / day oxy and started taking meth with it? Are you saying you used the oxy for two weeks to get off the meth by tapering them and then used the meth for a few days to get off everything all together.
How long were you using for on a steady basis? How long were you at 200mg / day of the oxy? And how long did it take you to build up to that dose.... Did the meth really help with the withdrawls?
Did you take anything else ....ie. valium, clonidine?
thanks for the help...

I never said that it would be over in 2-3 months.  I said that it shouldn't last a couple to a few YEARS.  And, from what I have read, the pellet is supposed to be a temporary thing to use to ensure abstinence.  After a while, you have to try to get some more faith in your recovery and not lean on the pellet.  That is not what I told or am telling to the other person.  This is what I am saying to you.  The pellet can be a good thing for certain individuals.  But, God forbid, you might be in a car wreck sometime this week and what if you break ribs and a hip?  You are going to be a hurting unit, with no relief in sight.  I never wrote that the depression would be over that soon.  Even during depression, some people do get periods of time where they feel better.  A lot of people feel really good right after excercise.  It has been studied that excercise does click in endorphin production.  They can be just produced without excersize and the person would be able to enjoy that moment when it happens if they aren't on the pellet.  And, after a year or two, if the person is in major depression still, then I would say that other causes should be investigated.  There are other treatments for depression.  Depression from opiate withdrawal does not last a couple of years and a naltrexone pellet is not any way to treat it.  And, at that point, it surely doesn't help matters either.

Depression is a part of detox whether you are on the naltrexone or not.  But, any little endorphins that your body might produce will do absolutely nothing when you are on the naltrexone.  The endorphins would definitely help with the depression.  One interesting thing I read was whether a peson would rather be in depression for a couple of years or be addicted for the rest of their life.  Depression is a main factor in a lot of addicts usage.  The depression after a detox should not last that long.  If it did, I am sure that the depression itself would make quite a few relapse, not abstaining from using a pellet.  Any better feelings that you could get would only help in your recovery.  Don't block them with the naltrexone.  My biggest thing is what if you are in a bad accident with trauma?  The pain is going to suck because that pellet will keep you from getting pain relief.  They will not be able to override the blockade.  They could remove the pellet, but you would still have to wait quite some time for it to not be effective any more.  Any time is too long to wait in that type of situation.  Depression shouldn't happen for a few years after detox;  that is not the norm.

what is your personal experience? From my own experience of being on  methadone maintenance for 13 years I can tell you categorically that depression is a major factor in recovery which may last for several years, albeit that naltrexone makes it worse.  I think it is wrong to give out the impression that you will be depression free after 2-3 months.

Ok,how much oxy were you on??  Meth can be tricky, I got into the same situation you are in right now.  I would by the wafers, then I would say to myself "ill just get ****** up one more time, then start to take the methadone" so I would get ****** up, take the meth, then get screwed up again and so on....... so I was taking methadone and oxy, at the same time........ wow did that suck.  So this last time what I did was use a MINIMAL AMOUNT of meth.  I was taking around 200mg of oxy a day.  So I took 10mg of meth the first day, then for the second and third I took 7.5mg a day, then the fourth day I took 5 and the 5th day I took 2.5, and then that was it, I felt tired the 2nd day i was off the meth, but after that I was fine. You have to use Minimal amounts otherwise you will be screwed, NOW HERE IS WHERE YOU HAVE TO LISTEN,AND I WILL PROBABLY GET **** FOR SAYING THIS, BUT THIS IS WHAT I SUGGEST. If you can do this, I would start taking smaller amounts of oxy for the next 2 weeks, don't take any meth, then try the detox I just did, I say this because it worked for me, I made sure i had the methadone out of my system, and I assume you don't want to go through hell for the 2 weeks which is why I said take the oxy during that time, then take the methadone........ I know its a little weird, but trust me it works.  And try to keep in mind that methadone lasts a long time, take 5mg and wait it out, don't take anymore until you absolutely have to, you should be able to go atleast 12 hours.........

L-Tyrosine can be bought at GNC or any vitamin store, its an amino acid that helps replenish seratonin levels........ or something like that............ write back with any questions.
