I'm back~

Hello Friends~

This weekend has been tough.  My daughter and her family was here all weeked and it has been a bit hectic with all the cooking and cleaning.  I have missed you guys and the support.  As most of you know I am doing this without any of my family members knowing including my BF.

I am back on track with tapring it's 6:15pm here and I have only had 15mg of hyrdocodne today...I was informed that the BF will be going out of town for a solid week...I will have the house all to myself- would that be a good time to do a full blown detox or should I continue to taper??  xoxo

You can use a one sided razor blade (or 2sided, just be careful) or sharp kitchen knife as a pill cutter.  I did that for yrs before getting the cheap little plastic pill cutter I have (that you can buy at any pharmacy).

Good luck, Honey!

You'll be fine without the sauna. The sauna is probably helps "sweat it out" but I don't see it making that big of a difference. I'm sure it helps with the chills also but hot baths will help just the same. Most don't have access to a sauna during detox and they get by just fine.

One thing that I did one time on day 3 is went and got a deep tissue massage. Although it's necessary it did seem to help.

If you are planning on doing this come Thursday it may help to do an aggressive taper over the next few days. You may feel some more symptoms over the next few days but it will help you get a jump on it which will make a big difference once you do make the jump.

Just try not and scare yourself. Many people do this all the time and make it through just fine. Prepare yourself mentally and go into this with a positive attitude. Just think, what's one week for a lifetime of freedom? Your doing a great thing here and not only for you but for anyone involved in your life.

You'll do just fine. You're turning over a new chapter in your life and this new chapter will be the best one ever!

Congrats on wanting to get your life back!

@ Vicki

Thank you  so much for sharing the link.  I just read over it and I believe I can do all of it with the exception of the sauna.  It seems like that was one of the most important.

Do you think that will be okay? Thanks again.. xoxoxoxoxoxoxo

I have to agree with Sara. You've been having some symptoms even while tapering and those will more than likely continue during the length of your taper. If you do make the jump you should be feeling better by the end of the week. You've tapered down some which will help with the severity of the withdrawals.

It's an amazing feeling once you hit the downhill side of things. You'll sit there and smile for no reason at all. You get that warm fuzzy feeling due to all of our true emotions coming back that have been numbed for so long. All of this could happen at about the same time your boyfriend comes walking in the door after his trip. What's one week of your life? It will be over with before you know it.

It makes it so much harder when you are hiding it from someone even if you're tapering. I'm sure your boyfriend has noticed that you have been acting different. You asked if now would be a good time and my opinion is that it's a great time. The opportunity may not come up again.

We will help you through. I'll check in day and night and will be here for you. Even if you just feel like venting, I'll be here to listen.

@bmdad,

It is a personal choice and I belive that I will get enough courage to jump off when the BF goes out of town.  He will be gone for a solid 7 days.  He has no clue and it will just have to stay that way.

I trust my circle of Friends on Medhelp will see me thru this in the near future.  You have been a great support and full of Knowledge as many others.  Thanks again

I think you rock too and are doing an awesome job!

Even while tapering your brain is slowly starting to repair itself as it's making up for the lack of endorphins. The only difference between tapering and going cold turkey is that you're still giving your brain some of the "fake" endorphins so it doesn't have to create as many right away and keeps it from being such as shock. Either way, your brain will still repair itself over time. If it didn't we would all end up on some form of antidepressants. I feel no different now than I did before I starting taking pain medication. Another theory could be that tapering could be an issue because you're confusing your brain by messing with its levels over a longer period of time. To be honest I don't agree with either theory. The only thing I do know is that our brain will repair itself no matter which route we choose. I'm living proof as are many others. If ct caused issues with our endorphins anyone who has ever went ct would be on some form of antidepressant. I've never taken one in my life and feel great. I once tapered and had a year clean after that. A month later I felt no different than how I felt after going ct. They both have their positives and negatives but the end result is exactly the same.

You are correct about the rebound pain. I too experienced it but it also subsided. I'm not saying that I still don't experience pain because I do but that's because of my injury. It was just magnified during withdrawals.

It all comes down to personal preference but there are no long term  negative effects no matter which route you choose.

i believe you to be right about brain...it is such a shock to it and the entire body going cold turkey....like sandy said..... your opiod recepters are bare and havent been given time to repair themselves...and as sandy also said(I dont want to steal her quote...she deserves the credit)your body is trying to repopulate the neurons to create the endorphens and all this is happening while we are detoxing.

I have struggled a lot with anxiety and "fear" in this process (and I have been tapering).  So perhaps what I am thinking isn't correct! I am thinking one's brain may not re-set itself--learn to make the needed dopamine, serotonin, endorphins, etc--as well if it has to do so extremely quickly in the case of c.t.  However, I have no proof of this.  It is only a theory.  On the other hand, if you have started taking pain medicine, as I did, for pain.  There is the real possibility of more "rebound pain."  That is one of the main reasons my doctor has me tapering.  Because I am more likely to have greater rebound pain, and I definitely don't want that.  All of this said, if I wasn't making notable progress in my taper, I would have no choice but to go cold turkey because I would be showing I couldn't taper.  I don't think you have given yourself enough time to come to that conclusion.  I pray for the best for you.  And, I am here for you.
