Scared and on edge

I have 10 days till this blasted kidney surgery and I am anxious to the point of considering relapse. Which will not help. It seems kind of good though. I see my doctor tomorrow and will bring it up he knows I am an addict. How do you guys deal with stressfull stuff? What do you think about taking something for anxiety? Idk if it is a good idea or not.

Stress can bring on old behaviors in a heart beat!  knowing this helps..and also having a plan for this type of thing...do u go to any type of aftercare?  If u do I would up my aftercare to a higher level..if u do not get any aftercare..it may help right now to get some to make it thru...I am hearing I WANNA CAVE..maybe just me but a surgery is not a reason to relapse..if u need pain meds post-op..then u need to designate someone to hold the pills for u

Stressors hit us upside the back of the head when we least expect it...we r always one pill away from relapse...and one stressor can cause a relapse that can last yrs..and life is so very short
No one dies in surgery these days///rare..if they r in bad health they may die later but in most cases a DR will not operate if they think the person wont make it....dont let fear take u to a dark place again...what were the reasons u quit the pills?

Have you always had anxiety or is it just being caused due to your upcoming surgery? If it is because of your surgery I would probably hold off on asking him to prescribe something for it. I know I was a bit nervous before my back surgery so kind of know where you are coming from. It is completely normal to be anxious and nervous about. Only taking something for anxiety for 10 days will not make you become addicted to it but being a addict if you tend to enjoy the anxiety med even one bit it may lead you to wanting it even after the surgery. Have you tried any over the counter anxiety meds such as valerian root? I would try something like that along with light exercise and breathing. Just do your best to relax. The surgery will go just fine so try not to worry about it. You've known about it for quite awhile now so do your best to make it another 10 days without trying to get on a benzo. Best of luck with your surgery! Let us know how it goes!
