Can anyone tell me how long the withdrawal lasts. I was on 16mg Per day and slowly cut down to 0.4?

Hi all!   I have to agree, an anti-depressant definately helps fight all the mental symptoms like fatigue, lack of motivation, anxiety, depression.  I highly recommend you start on one asap.  I dont think it necessarily matters how long you were on subs, but how long youve been abusing substance.  I was only on subs for 4 months, but abused pills for about 3 1/2 years.  I am 34 days clean and not back to what I would call "normal."  But, here's the thing.  You can't focus on 30 days or 70 days.  Take it 1 day at a time or 1 week at a time.  Say, TODAY I can make it through.  Each week it gets better.  The first 2 weeks are the worst.  There are things to help boost endorphins.  Although at first it will seem impossible, as soon as you can force yourself, walk!  Walking, moving, anything but sitting is so very important!  Vitamins such as B12, B6, L-Tyrosine can all help to promote endorphins.  Eating chocolate or spicy food also helps boost endorphin function.  Taking a probiotic is also helpful.  It has been proven that 95% of the seratonin needed for a healthy mind actually comes from the belly!  By providing your stomach with the healthy bacteria it needs, this could help boost your brain health.  The stomach is sometimes referred to as the second brain for this reason.  Try to eat lots of protein and healthy fruits and vegetables and drink water as often as possible!  It wont be easy but its completely do-able!  There are plenty of people here who have been through this and are here for you because weve been there.  Dont let the symptoms or the length of healing time scare you.  In a sence, your cells will be renewing, your mind and body healing to give you a new birth.  A new life!  remember when you were once sober, full of energy and full of life.  You ARE that person!  Be strong, take the leap, and you WILL see that person again.

I'll tell ya what hun, the whole yucky period that your body is going thru, isn't really that uncommon... I have a friend that has gone thru the same phases that you're describing, off and on for about 18 months now. She has never had an episode last more than 2 months, but then again, everybody is different. Anyways, just recently, within the last month, she had gone to her family doctor, and told him what was happening. He told her that it has something to do with her brain chemistry being off balance. He blames the imbalance on her addiction to subutex, after being prescribed the drug for maintenance of an oxycontin addiction. To make a long story short, she was prescribed cymbalta. Now it's been about 8 weeks and she hasn't had any physical or mental symptoms of an episode. As for myself, I was prescribed cymbalta the 5 day of my detox 39 days ago... needless to say, I feel wonderful... normal again. I'm not in any way a doctor or health professional, but from my experience, you might want to talk to your doctor about it. Oh and one more thing, we all know the half life of subs, and on day 12 I no longer had any physical wds... doctor said it helps with aches and pains as well!

Just a lil insight, hope it helps! Good luck and god bless!

I agree, we do have to go through some pain to recover.I have been clean off the subutex for 11 months now. I was on it for 2 years!! The initial withdrawal lasted a few weeks and was more intense than it has ever been coming off Heroin. The reason i stumbled onto this site was because i was trying to get more information on the Subutex. After i got clean i started to feel good again, then a week or so later i started to get all the physical symptoms again. That carried on for 9 months, I realise that sounds ridiculous. I have had long periods clean before and have never experienced anything like this before. After nine months, in desperation i went to the doctor and he has prescribed Sertraline for depression, my symptoms where more physical than mental though. Anayway the Sertraline has not improved anything. I have looked sertraline up on this site and the common side effects are pretty much the same as what i was feeling anyway! So i just wanted to see if anyone has experienced anything similar. Thanks for the reply, any other thoughts you have would be appreciated.

it depends how long you were on it. i was on it 7 yrs ago for lortab addiction but i only stayed on suboxone for about 2 months maybe a little less /little more. i stopped taking it & suffered no withdrawal but only because i wasn't on it long.I can only tell you from what i've researches & seen from friends and that's anywhere from 5 - 14 days. one of my friends used a body detoxing remedy and it seemed to cut the withdrawl time down from my other 2 friends who used nothing. could have just been his body worked differently to begin with though. i can tell you thanks to gnarly on this site he recommended a muti vitamin 4 in the morning and four at night to start and whey protein shake mix "chocolate". this helped my withdrawl symptoms tremendously, i know this for a fact cause i've withdrawn from the same drug "methadone" for over a week before and it was freakin horrible that time. this time it was much easier.still uncomfortable but i think we have to go threw some discomfort to get better. it's what keeps me from wanting to use right now "just knowing i don't want to go back to day one".
