Whoa time out, I never said we can't discuss anything or everything. I'm all for it. I was just giving my own opinion about a member who decided to refer to weed as a 'soft' drug to which I assume was meant to mean it wasn't so bad to use it now and then instead of 'hard' drugs like heroin or whatever was meant by that.
Then just above you have another member posting this:
""" Well weed is definitly not my thing....but in all honesty I think if its done every now and then it isnt a big deal. But if you do it everyday or it interferes in ur life then no its not a good idea. Its kind of like alcohol....moderation!"""""
It is a big deal, saying its ok to use as long as its done in moderation is just an excuse to use. Same goes for saying that alcohol is ok in moderation. Certainly NOT for those fighting dependency and addiction which probably means anyone who posts or reads this forum otherwise why are you here? Answer, to END chemical dependency.
I think we should be able to discuss anything we want in here. That's why it's called a forum.
Making a post that says using alcohol in 'moderation' in a forum like this where many are attending AA or who've been through rehab for that or any other chemical addiction is not smart. Posters in this forum are here because of addiction or having been addicted in the past. Alcohol cannot be consumed..period. As for declaring weed as a 'soft' drug....are you guys kidding me? lol Same deal goes for that. Checking the calendar and it's not coming up April 1. lol
Well weed is definitly not my thing....but in all honesty I think if its done every now and then it isnt a big deal. But if you do it everyday or it interferes in ur life then no its not a good idea. Its kind of like alcohol....moderation! I, of course, think it should be used medically if needed.
Yeah I consider weed a gate way drug. In my experience I did smoke it for years until it wasnt enough then have to mix it with coke, pills, alcohol. Never really an addictive drug to me but it sure did lead to some of the worst mistakes of my life which is the addiction to pain killers. Now I just get panic attacks when I smoke it and that never happened until the pain pills came around. I dont think its alright cause of the gate way effect which is so true.
For the general population? No comment!
For those who already know they have a problem with addiction? Well in my opinion, those of us here would be wise to stay the h**l away from any mind altering substances. Just too risky considering the somewhat messed up our brain chemistry we already have - but that is just my personal view.
I can't even really say. I know when I smoked pot I didn't have a problem with it and quit with no problems, but that's different for everyone. I had an addiction to opiates and I had a BIG problem quitting that. There an be a difference, but it all depends on what goes on in your mind when it comes to ANY drug.
Let's see what others have to say:)
Oh Boy! This will open up some discussion.
I think caffeine is a "soft" drug ! LOL
This is what I think: No,it's not okay unless medically necessary.
I'm afraid now that if I did smoke pot or hash it would trigger that high feeling that could very well lead back to active addiction again. I've learned that recreational drug use is never a good idea.
I vote no. Don't even start.
