Soma when withdrawing from Percs

So I last used Percocet about a week and a half ago.  This past weekend I started having muscle spasms so bad that I couldn't sleep (where otherwise I was actually sleeping fine).  I went to a clinic, and they tried to give me Tramadol, insisting it was non-narcotic.  I refused, and they relented and prescribed me Soma.  A muscle relaxant.  I took one tablet last night, and a half tablet this morning.  Tonight I just found out that this class of muscle relaxants works similarly to pain pills, which I was unaware of.  I am upset at this doctor, and at myself for not checking this out ahead of time, and for assuming the doctor was acting in my  best interest.  Obviously I'm not going to take another pill, but my question is this: Am I in for another long week or two of withdrawal again, now????????

it is late and in my experience you might not get as many answers late at night but stick with the people here, they will help you. i am not a doctor but from my understanding the only thing that will put you back into withdrawals is more opiates and soma is a muscle relaxant, with no chemical relation to opiates.. COULD BE WRONG, im not a doc.. i would try researching the chemical and how it affects the brain, pretty sure it doesnt go to opioid receptors.. good luck :) Congrats on a week and a half!!!!!!! maybe someone else here will know better than me

Soma is not an opiate so it will not play a roll in the detox withdrawal schedule. HOWEVER, it is very strong and not to be taken lightly. it can be very addicting. be careful.

try over the counter medine. naproxen or ibuprofen. :)

As an ER RN for 20 years and years of using Soma, it does not cause withdrawals. If you are experiencing withdrawals, I would say it may be a psychological withdrawal. Sometimes I run out early, and all I end up with is a back ache.

Soma can be addicting. It does not act on the same brain receptors as an opiate but more like a barbiturate. A few here and there are fine if you need them. If you take them for weeks or months...you'll end up needing them!

You're fine. Just relax and keep your fluid intake up. Exercise will go a long way, as well.

All the best!

From what I've read it does act the same way as an opioid, but not sure if it binds to the same receptors or not.  The info I've found says it can act to enhance opioids so many people who abuse things like hydrocodone or whatever will use this drug to enhance the effects of the opioid.  This tells me it works very similarly but not exactly the same... this is why I was concerned... I hope you guys are right...

I feel so anxious that, after I had finally starting feeling that the clouds had cleared somewhat... I may be in for it all over again.  My heart is pounding and my stomach is in knots!  I HATE that I may have screwed myself here...
