Some advice for opiate addicts as well as a question

Ive been abusing hydrocodone for years, but i never really had a problem until it became so accesible to me 6 months ago.  I was taking up to 160mg daily just to feel normal.  Well ive went through withdrawals before and they were horrible.  To ease off of it, i started taking kratom, this plant works wonders to ease withdrawals and its legal to buy.  Then i started easing off kratom until im not taking it anymore.  Right now i am off both.  I feel the paws, but atleast i dont feel like utter crap.  I have bad insomnia though and cant really sleep.  My question is, how long do you think my paws and insomnia will last based off the usage i have above?

No wonder, you poor thing! I go back to pt tomorrow and I will ask her what type of massage she recommends. I know for me, the massage therapy she gave and continues to give me was and is a godsend.

Hi Gingerbread,

What type of massage did you get? The reason I ask is because I go to a wonderful physical/massage therapist through my PM clinic. She said that the deep tissue massage can and often does do more harm than good. It can cause tissue damage deep inside and result in even more pain. She says that a good massage will relax you and never cause pain. After my pt exercises, she uses an ultra sound machine, applies heat, then gently but firmly massages my upper shoulders, neck, and base of my skull, then puts Biofreeze on, which is like Icy Hot only better.  I think the deep tissue massages are also known as the Swedish massage and that is what you want to avoid.

I have experience with Kratrom and I will never touch it again. I agree you are still in withdrawal. Take a deep breath are you taking any other meds like benzos or antidepressants? Try to relax and get some highlands restless legs valerian root passion flower and any other natural remedies you can find. Hot baths too.

Yes, I believe vicki is right, you are still going through wd. I am no expert by any means, just have done a lot of research, but I don't think you are experiencing paws either.

Hi-  You're still withdrawing; this is not PAWS that you're experiencing.

Sleep issues are very common and are the last issues to resolve. Actually, if you'regetting 3-4 hours per night, you're doing better than most!

Pick up some Alteril. It's an OTC sleep med and it's all natural. Good luck!

Congratulations on the 10 days! I was taking five Lortab 10's a day. I quit cold turkey in November, 2011. It was the hardest thing I have ever done. I noticed a big improvement in sleep after about 21 days. I would still have a bad night here and there but it definitely got better and better. Great job and I hope you keep posting! :)

Thanks for your comments guys. Its been 10days since ive been off the hydrocodone and about 3 days off the kratom.  Im getting some sleep at night, maybe 3-4 hrs with the help of melatonin and nyquil. Id like to hear some comments on how much u were taking for how long, and when the insomnia and paws left you.  Thanks!

You know Gingerbread that's a tough one to answer ! We are all unique as far as symptoms go .  But I do think sleep should start coming for you soon . As for post acute withdrawal syndrome  go's all I can say is it did hit me for awhile and one day I woke up and it was gone ! Your brain is healing and it takes time for all of us and some more time then others . But it will pass I promise you that .  Hang in there you're doing great !  Well done Jimmy

Hi Gingerbread.... I was at about 100mg more than you of oxy per day and it's been more than 5 weeks now since I went CT. Sleep didn't exist for me in the first 10 days- almost 2 weeks.... Then it started to come when I began moving around alot more in the day. I wish I did that earlier. And now i get a good 6 hours a night...usually...How log has it been for you now?
