Someone please help QUICK suboxone emergency

This michg not be the best place to post this but im in kind of an emergency.. I taking suboxone right now (legally) and living with a firend. Last night she snuck into my stash of suboxone and took a half of an 8mg dose and let is disolve under her tongue.

Now she has NOT been on any opiates at all before this so I know thats not what is causing the problem, but she has been throwing up all night and is horribly sick and im worried about her. She is sweating and throwing up bad, she cant keep any fluids down and im really afraid she is very dehydrated. She refuses to go to the emergency room, is there anything I can do for her? Is this normal? I have never had any problems taking suboxone so I don't know how to help her.

Will suboxone do this to people and will the side effect go away soon? Like I said,I wouldn't worry as much except she cant keep any fluids down and after throwing up all night last night and this morning im really worried about the dehydration. Any info would help..

Thanks!

Your friend has what is called an OVERDOSE.  She is opiate naive and got absolutely wasted on the suboxone.  Ask any heroin addict what "flashing" is.  You shoot, and then you barf.  Being opiate naive and due to the long half-life and high dose of Sub, I'm not at all surprised she's been throwing up for hours.  Frankly, she's lucky to still be breathing.

Yes, she STOLE your medication.  How do you "borrow" a pill anyway?  She knew exactly what she was doing by stealing it from you (you obviously did not consent to it) but didn't understand what she was dealing with.  If you want to be a true friend, you will tell the hospital staff exactly what happened.  Nobody will call the cops or throw her into a psych ward.  This is an accident, which is not a matter for law enforcement.  At worse, the hospital may want her to talk to a shrink briefly before discharge.  Judging by her actions, that may be a good thing right now.  Your friend harmed herself, and she harmed YOU by stealing your medication.  What are you going to tell your doctor when you come up short at the end of the month?  This isn't just about your friend now.  It's also about you.

I take Subutex, I used to take Suboxone. And Ive gotten very sick like that a few times so have some of my friends. Its a strong opiate and they can cause some people to be very sick like that-vomiting, dry heeves, cant keep NOT EVEN WATER DOWN. Its a reaction to the drug. at least she got to the hosp. I just went through this with my Boyfriend who took a whole 8 mg. of Subutex. And he was sick for 24 hrs. We just waited it out, I told him before it might make him sick but he was in so much pain at the time he did'nt care. I felt like **** for giving him one. Shame on me. That will never happen again.

I have taken a sub before like that and had a terrible reaction similar to that. I just took a few percocets and it like counter-acted the effects for me and in about 15-20 mins i was fine. But that was me.

Yeah, I know that sounds pretty bad. She didn't really "steal" a suboxone from me, she just knew where I kept them and took one to try and get some sleep.

Im not really worried about her and drugs, she has a good job and gets through life every day clean and has tried to help me for years get off of opiates. I will talk with her when she gets home though and try to find out whats up, because she usually dosen't have a hard time sleeping and even when she does, it don't sound like her to take something hard like suboxone, espescially when she knows what opiates have done to me.

Thanks guys for all the messages, any more info is always welcomed!

I'm glad you got her to the hospital.

Of course they ran blood work because they know that people lie and she did. they are protecting themselves as well as trying to help her.

They won't call the police so don't worry about that.

All this being said, she needs to have a long, hard look at her behavior. You say she has never taken drugs yet she stole a Suboxone from you and took it? I find that very disturbing.

I am sure she will be okay physically and I hope she gets the help she needs.

Thanks guys for all the useful information.. I finally talked her into letting me take her to the ER. Although she wouldn't tell the people at the ER what happened. She just told them she had been vomiting all night and was extremely sick and nausiated and dehydrated. I tried to tell her to tell the truth but she didnt want to.

That being said, they put her on an IV and gave her something for nausia. Do you guys think that the nausia medicine could interact with the suboxone in her system? I left her there while the IV was in and ran home to do a few things at the house and I gotta go pick her back up as soon as she calls. I know they ran bloodwork so they will probably see the suboxone in her system and she will have to admit to taking it. What will they do to her? The won't admit her or call the cops on her or anything will they?
Thanks again guys for all the help.

I agree with everyone else about calling 911. If she won't willingly go to the er have the er come to her. Suboxone is a very strong. Suboxone has been used for pain in Europe for years and it's prescribed in micro mgs. That means she took about 40 times more than what it would have been prescribed to someone that doesn't have a tolerance to opiates. So that being said my guess would be that she overdosed. Either that or she is having a severe allergic reaction.
Get her help ASAP!

First rule in First Aid: the patient doesn't know what's good for them. Call 911. Don't let her call the shots.

They won't commit her... Most likely hydrate her with an IV, give her something for nausa .... blood work etc ... then send her home

ER quickly! If she is scared then tell them she took it by accident but do not let this continue.

I keep trying to get her to go to the ER but she won't. Shes afraid they will commit her to the psych ward or or keep her there at the hospital for substance abuse or something. Shes not a drug person, shes never abused drugs.. she was just trying to get a good nights sleep last night and thought taking a half of a suboxone would help her.

If she is vomiting as much as you say then she is not keeping fluids in. She needs to go to the ER and she needs to get honest with them so they can help her properly.
