I am so sorry to hear about your plight with Xanax. It is a very hard drug to detox because it not only affects you body but the GABA receptors in the brain. I detoxes from 3 benzos 4 yrs ago at a hospital outpatient facility. After 4 days they set me free but I was in a fog and stooper for another 3 months. I got on all those meds because I didn't ask what they were for and do research before taking. If you were on a low dose and just went off you might talk to your doc and consider going back on and tapering off instead of just quitting -- not really a good idea.
So you are completely off the Lortab now? As I was tapering I was definitely feeling some w/d...mental stuff..anxiety, no sleep..etc. I just want to be clear that you are not going through w/d's from them. I have been reading up on the xanax and the fact that you were only taking them for such a short time and low dose is kinda baffling. I am 'rather' worried about the w/d's myself when I am done tapering...and you know that expression.."If I knew then what I know now," I certainly would not have started these 2 begin with...
I hope that tomorrow is a better day for you.
Yes...I'm also tapering from 80mgs a day Norco addiction. I went from 80mgs to 30mgs within 2 days along with going cold turkey from Xanax but I thought the worst would certainly be behind me by now. Today seemed more tollerable as the anxiety was not as bad and the depression seemed much lighter...all in all...not a bad day.
This also happened around day 17. Day 17 was going along great and when I got out of bed on day 18 the next two days was living hell all over again. This is where I get frustrated..about the time I think the worst is over...BAM! These horrible wd symptoms wave over me again. I know it's all apart of the process but I see people going cold turkey from 120mgs daily of lortab and within 2 weeks they say they are doing better.
I do know that there is a big difference between Lortab and Xanax...guess I'm wanting this to end as quickly as it started.
Hi Dean,
Sounds like things aren't improving much for you. This may seem like an elemental question, but when was the last time you went to a GP for a full blood workup? The reason I ask is, based on what you told me about your medical history, including the xanax and the lortab, you may be deficient in a number of areas. I'm not a medical professional, but getting a physical, including blood tests, may reveal some imbalances that you may not be aware of.
I know how you feel about doctors and meds, but that shouldn't stop you from getting a comprehensive exam. It's hard to do it on your own when you're grasping at different straws that may be the cause of your problems.
I really feel for you my friend, anxiety and panic is the worst. Getting a clearer picture of what's going on with you may help in figuring out how to fix it.
Sending you well wishes....
Sandy :)
Hi,
I've been reading your posts with interest. I am weaning myself off the Xanax. I've been on low dose script for 4 years so I am researching and doing it slow. First I tapered oxycodone and have 51 days free of that. What I am wondering is: Is it possible you are also going through some withdrawal from lortabs? Aren't you tapering them? I'm just wondering if it's a combination...
I hope you feel better VERY soon.
Peace
I went through the w/d's of xanax two yrs ago and it was horrible..I went through rehab for 3 mths and I was put on a six week taper through professionals..but the dizziness and the detached feeling the sweating all night long and the feeling I was so off balance and all ur explaining lasted me about six mths...now I was on a high dose of xanax for yrs about 8 to 10 mg a day for quite a few yrs....so hopefully with each day you will start to improve but if your doing this on your own you have to be very careful Xanax withdraw is very dangerous and yes they say its one of the worst w/d's ... So be careful and I wish you all the luck and love in the world getting over this horrible drug....God Bless...Shine
