Stopping Vyvanse cold turkey tomorrow

I am going to be stopping vyvanse tomorrow after taking/abusing it for a month and a half to two months the last refill was for 50mg and most days I would take 2. I have some wellbutrin that might help.  I would appreciate any suggestions/thoughts you might have.  I had about 4 or 5 days off a week or so ago between waiting on my refill and I was very lethargic.  I did not have any wellbutrin then.

I hope things went well for you with the vyvanse. I unfortunately stopped my vyvanse cold turkey and had a grand Mal seizure when I was 38 and never had a seizure in my life before that. My doctor said you should always ween yourself off any type of stimulant.

so far so good. today was not too bad.  I ate a good lunch and took about an hour nap and then went for a 4 mile run tonight. i did take some wellbutrin and some vitamins. Tomorrow I'm having surgery on my gums/tooth, so hopefully I'll get some pain meds and rest all day.  Thanks for the support.

Oh one more thing. About the abuse. 100 mg a day is not a ridiculous amount depending on your weight. You might call the pharmacist to set your mind at ease. Rotting for ya.

Hey Win, I have a son on vyvanse and takes it only on school days and never in the summer. He does not have any side effects or w/d going off of it and he has been on it for 2 years. He doesn't act any different except maybe his appetite increases when off. It is gentler than adrenal I was told. I think you'll be just fine. So much of w/d is mental so keep a positive attitude. Much luck.

I was on that once to help with what the stupid fentanyl was doing to me. I was so run down I couldn't do anything. So my doctor wrote me a script for it I took it for 2 months and then just stopped taking it. I felt a little more tired than normal for a few days but other than that I was fine. I was only taking like 20mg I believe. Im not sire how much you were taking? I just didn't like the way it made my heart race. I would just try to start exercising in the morning that always gives me lots of energy. Good luck to you.

I am under docs care for the wellbutrin a diff doc than the one who prescribed the vyvanse.  I do understand the dosages, I have 150mg currently. I will keep checking back.  Thanks for the support!   Also, I did talk to my perscrib ing doc and he said cold turkey was ok, but he doesn't know about the abuse.

Hi and welcome! I can't offer much in the way of knowing what you will go through, just support.

I have been on and off these type medications for years, but I never felt any lethargic feelings upon stopping. They actually make me drowsy!

But, the Wellbutrin should help with energy. It has a chemical composition similar to a diet pill.

I always just stopped my ADD meds when I would be feeling better, or not have reason to take them, such as school or whatnot. But I'm honestly not sure if they should be CT, so hopefully somebody will know more.

Since you said your abusing them, congrats on wanting to stop! As you know, abusing them is awful for your heart. Are you under a Drs care so you don't take too much Wellbutrin? I mean, you know the correct dosage?  Wellbutrin  can cause heart problems and/or seizures at too high of a dose.
