I made it through work, but I kept on gaging all day. Shaking and sneezing. But I was burning up. It feels like my skin wanted to come out of my body. This is the worse. Im trying hard. And Gnarly,  I know NA is important. I have to accept that, because obviously what Im doing has not work.

Hi there ~
I just want to echo what gnarly wrote above.  I, too, tried to get clean on my own - alone... I just couldn't do it. For me it was a long process, but ultimately... meetings, meetings, meetings.  I highly encourage them once you get past your detoxing. So very sorry you're so sick right now... my heart goes out you... stick to it girl and you will get thru.

N/A and AA are filled with genuine people just like here in the forum... who will support you and show you - teach you and new way to think.  We addicts have a thinking problem. Mostly we need a new way to do life - sober. For me and so many others, it's invaluable to surround ourselves with other recovering addicts who have are walking the path successfully.

Keep at it! Praying for you now jojo!

Hey Jojo. How high of a fever are we talking about? It's pretty common to have a slight fever during detox, but anything over 101 would be of some concern. You very well might be coming down with some sort of infection. Our bodies and immune systems are compromised during the detox process and we are more susceptible to illness. Try to drink lots of fluids and rest as much as you can. If your fever gets above 102, I would either call your doctor, or go and get it checked out at urgent care, or the ER. I hope you start feeling better soon.

Get rid of your "just-in-case" stash. If you want to get clean you have to set yourself up for success. If the pills are there you will take them. Where does this end? Change your attitude. Get positive that this is all a good thing. Keep pushing forward. Whatever you do just don't use.

Thank u guys for caring enough to answer me back. The reason I took the 30 is because the withdrawals got the best of me, I was so sick, so Im again going through the same thing, Im truly tired of living like this. Im really trying to get clean, I got to push through this week with the withdrawals, I can't take off work. Please continue to keep me in ur prayers. Im counting the hours until im over this. Hardcore withdrawals and I have to go to work tomorrow.

Like IBK said...you need to do something different this time.

Chapter 1:

I walk down the street.
There is a deep hole in the sidewalk.
I fall in.
I am lost...I am helpless.
It isn't my fault.
It takes forever to find a way out.

Chapter 2:

I walk down the same street.
There is a deep hole in the sidewalk.
I pretend I don't see it.
I fall in again.
I cant believe I am in this same place, but it isn't my fault.
It still takes a long time to get out.

Chapter 3:

I walk down the same street.
There is a deep hole in the sidewalk.
I see it there.
I fall in...its a habit...but my eyes are open.
I know where I am.
It IS my fault.
I get out immediately.

Chapter 4:

I walk down the same street.
There is a deep hole in the sidewalk.
I walk around it.

Chapter 5:

I walk down a different street.

Sooo understand where you are coming from JoJo! When my daughter was 5 or 6 she was asked to draw a picture of her family doing things they loved. She drew a picture of her mom painting, a picture of her brother swimming, and a picture of me in bed.  How sad is that?! Sad enough to straighten my butt out? Nope! Do it sweetie. The pain you feel now is NOTHING compared to the regret you could feel later.  Take it from a life long addict - you don't want to be a life long addict.

The definition of insanity is doing the same thing over and over and expecting different results. You need to do it different this time to STAY clean. What do you think you will do different?
