Suboxone, Seroquel and Klonopin

First of all...thanks to all of you who've replied to my posts in the past.  The estranged husband is now on suboxone and off all the percs and oxys.

Just wondering, what are the effects of Suboxone, Seroquel and Klonopin?  He is on 12 mg of suboxone daily, and is prescribed 2 mg of Klonopin but he is abusing that already and taking about 20 mg of the klonopin.  I am not overly worried, just because he was taking about 350 mg of valium a day before going on the sub a month ago, but of course there is some concern.  Any input would be greatly appreciated.

Thank you in advance.

thanks for your reply....i think i may have been addressing your post when i wrote the above comments.  i'm all over the place but very thankful to this forum for helping me through some very rough times...i know those rough times will return, but right now, the suboxones and the weekly doctor visits give me a reprieve from the hell i was going through when he was on the percs and oxys.

thanks again

thank you for your comment.  He really doesn't care about abusing the benzos.  He can't go without some kind of addiction and because they're cheap, way cheaper than the percs and oxys, he justifies it.  He is my estranged husband and he will only let me butt into his business so much.  I am only asking for my own knowledge...I completely agree that there are deep underlying issues which are the root of the problem....getting him to admit that is another story.  He just says it's a genetic disease and waves off the counselling.  Been with him over 10 years and have witnessed all the different slips and relapses.  I'm sure it's not the last time......but him being on the subs is like night and day, and for that little bit of improvement, I'm grateful.

Thanks for your reply.  Yes, he is being prescribed all 3 but he is only being prescribed 2mg of klonopin...he gets the rest on his own.  He is coming off of about 60 percocets daily as well as about 240mg of oxy AND about 350mg of valium...YES Daily.  I totally understand that he's masking the root of the problem as well as substituting one drug for another.  It's always been like that for him.  Stopped drinking then took ativans, then percs, then oxys then at the end there was morphine in his stash.  I guess I look at the current situation as the lesser of a few evils.  He is not as mean and irrational as when he was on the oxys and he has more patience with the kids.

Thanks again.

YOU need to get in touch with the doctor and let him know whats going on benzo's dont mix well with narcotic's you can go into respiratory failure from it and also if he is eating 20 at a time that could also wind up killing him the only wild card her is you have to go off benzo's slowly he has to be tapered off it my require you holding the pills given his history good luck with this it time for him to get some consoling or mabe plug into N/A or A/A to treat his addiction
the pills are only a symptom of something much biger going on he needs to get to the root of it at least he is trying buy going on the sub but without consoling your only trading addiciton

I would say the effects would be quite a bit of sedation.  Depends on his tolerance, and it sounds like it's high.  I would speak with his doc about this.  He doesn't need to be given Klonopin if he is going to abuse it.  I mean.....isn't that what he is trying to STOP doing?  I've never really agreed with giving opiate addicts a benzo anyway.  It happened to me years ago, and I got a MAJOR dependency on them!  MAJOR!  But everyone is different.

It's definitely something to be concerned about.  When I was new to all of this, I would have abused water if it felt good!  So I'm not judging him, but he needs to not do that or it might just kill him.

Hi,

I am sorry your post was over looked, it was the wee hours of the morning when you wrote this.

I don't know that anyone can tell you about the combination of all 3 of those, per say but anytime you combine heavy duty medications such as those, there should be some concern. If he is starting to abuse the Klonopin then I would absolutely be concerned given his background. Did the same doctor prescribe all 3 of those medications?

Is he doing any sort of group support or counseling?
