Hi, Welcome & Congrats on wanting to get off Hydrocodone!

I just wanted you to know that though you may feel that you're going in circles & are scared that you can DEFINITELY do this. (There's only one way & that's straight through it.;) We have many people on this forum who worked throughout their detox. Naturally, it's not easy. So, determination, consistency (i.e. 'eye-on-the-prizeness') & a Good Attitude are a must.  Fear & psyching ourselves out are the enemy!! So, please, try to start telling yourself in every second of every moment that you're stronger than you know. (Because, You Are!!)

In order for your detox to work, you'll have to plan ahead. I think ROSY makes a good point/suggestion. (You can call in sick for a couple of days..either that or go in -- they'll see how ill you are & send you home.) Would it be possible for you to call in say..on a Thursday & Friday? (Then you'd have Thurs, Fri & the weekend to kick.) It might be rough on Monday & Tuesday but it would certainly help. I also agree w/ her suggestion re: the Thomas Recipe which you can find on the bottom left of this page under 'Most Viewed Health Pages'. We can discuss other things to stock up on & ways to help ease some of the symptoms a little further if you like.

You mentioned that you've tried before. I want this to work for you this time. So the question we have to ask ourselves when we relapse is: 'What's different about this time?' 'How have I adjusted my game plan & what pulled me down last time?' If we don't ask these questions & make the requisite adjustments -- sure as shootin' -- the cycle will continue. That's what makes it an addiction. (You deserve better!!)

Please, let us know how you're doing & what you think. We're here & we're pulling for you, my friend! ;))

Quitting isn't easy and theirs always a reason to keep us from doing it but it sounds like you WANT to and thats the first step! Just brace yourself for the "flu" and ride it out!!! What would you do if you had the flu and had to work??

Check out the Thomas recipe for some ideas and tips to make wd's a little easier.. Often times the fear of withdrawal is worse than the actual experience! A few days of the "flu" for a life of freedom! You CAN do it!
