Suboxone side affects.

I have now been on Suboxone for about 10 days, and it does help me with the cravings and with drawls, but it makes me feel like ****!  I was prescribed 8mg per day.  He told me to take the tablet every morning and to let it dissolve under my tongue.  I totally forgot about the dissolving thing, and just swallowed it like a normal pill.  The first day, I took a 1/2 pill, and I felt GREAT!  The next day, I took a whole one, and still felt pretty good, but drowsy, the 3rd day, I realized I was supposed to let the pill dissolve, so I did.  I turned into a complete ZOMBIE!!!  I felt HORRIBLE!  I was a stumbling and slurring my words, as well as barely being able to stay awake.  The next day, I decided to just take 1/2 in the morning, and half in the afternoon.  I still let them dissolve under my tongue.  I wasn't as bad as the day before, but I still could barely function from being so tired.  So the next day, I decided to take the 1/2 in the AM and 1/2 in the PM except this time I just swallowed them.  I felt much better than the day before, but still quite drowsy at times.  So the next day, I completely QUIT them!  I just hated them, so I stopped.  I was totally fine for 2 whole days ( I was on a romantic getaway with my husband though, so I had no stresses).  At the end of the 2nd with nothing, I was back home with my kids and I totally fell apart!  I was craving soooo bad, and I was an emotional wreck!  I decided to take a 1/2 pill of the Suboxone (so 4mg instead of 8mg) and I felt much better and went to bed.  Since then, I have been trying all sorts of different doses to see if I can get rid of the terrible drowsiness.  It has gotten a little better when I only take like a 1/4 pill in the morning and 1/2 at night, but I just can't get rid of it!  I can barely keep my eyes open as I'm writing this.  I never give into it and go take a nap though because I have 3 kids to care for.

Ok, so is this normal?  What should I do?  Has anyone else had any negative side affects from this?  I do think that it's helping me, but I just can't stand feeling this way all the time!  So, I guess I either deal with severe cravings, or severe sleepiness!  Just kinda sucks!

that could also be it too...too low of a dose can also cause drowsiness...it can be so tricky...but stick with what you think is the correct dose for at least a week and make sure to put some space between your lyrica and sub...

It's different for everybody but try cutting it up into four pieces and take it throughout the day as you think you need it.... it may be that you are on too low of a dose.  I've been on about 16 to 20 for a year and a half and just take halves when I think I need it.  Much bette life than before... no more of the addictive behavior like doc shopping and buying and whatever else we use to do.

i am on neurontin...if i take my sub and my neurontin too close together, THAT does make me drowsy...i take my neurontin first thing in the morning and my sub almost 3 hours later with my coffee, because i cant stand the tatse of sub while it is dissolving, a tiny sip of coffee while it is under my tongue takes the taste away, its the only thing that works...YUKKY!  lol!

That's so weird that I am feeling so darn tired all the time and I haven't heard ANYONE else complain of that.  I also take Dexadrine for A.D.D. that I have been taking since I was 8 years old (never abused it, don't have any desire to) and it is an amphetamine.  I figured that the Dexadrine would counter act all the drowsiness since it wakes you up, but it doesn't really help much at all!  I also take Lyrica though, and that can cause drowsiness, so maybe once I added the Suboxone into the mix, it caused me to become so tired.  Who knows!  I think I have found a dose that I can tolerate, so I will try hard to stick with it and keep my fingers crossed that my body adjusts to it so I don't have to feel like this anymore!  Thanks for the support!

you have to find a dose and stick to it...try 2 mgs in the morning and 2 mgs at night and stick to it...it takes time for your body to adjust to not having your drug of choice and also time to adjust to the sub...changing the dose all the time is really messing with you...i DID have this problem myself...no drowsiness though, just finding what worked for me, and staying there long enough to adjust...it can be tricky...
