Hello. Sorry I haven't been on in a while. Been very busy. Had some funeral details to attend to. Had to keep busy cause the cravings is trying to set in. I feel great today though. It's been over a month and I'm still climbing. I have to tell you all something funny. My fiance seems more dedicated than I am. I was moving the couch to clean underneath it. What do you know. There were two percocets right there in front of me. My fiance seen them as fast as I did, and jump on them like someone jumping on a grenade, grabbed them ran to the bathroom and flushed them. LOL I laughed so hard. She said she got rid of them before I could make an excuse to take em. After seeing that you could swear she had some combat experience. Though I do love her. Well I will try to post some more. I figured the main key in this battle is staying busy, and vitamins lol. You all have a good night.
You are in a great place to enjoy foooootttbbbballl!!! I think it is one of the biggest social things we have in Eastern NC to enjoy! I hope you are catching a high school game tonight. My son plays Varsity and they have a scrimage tonight. That is a great way to keep your mind off of what is going on. I am sure the teams in Onslow county are playing tonight too. You and every other male in NC can hardly wait for the sound of helmets clashing and to watch those boys/men take it to the field...enjoy!!
Way to go pal I served Marine Corp paris Island 1977 2nd battalion. One thing that I use that I learned in boot camp was pain is good ,extreme pain is extremly good .Semper fi now matter what, just dont pick up.One day at atime
I was born in the Volunteer State. Just right next door to NC. I hoped you enjoyed your trip. I actually love going to the smoky mtns. Well sorry have to cut this short, but need to get up and do something. I got a bad craving right now. Another day clean!!!!. I just can't wait till football season. I can really get into the games and keep my mind occupied. Yell at you guys later.
You all are welcome. Though I do not actually need to be thanked. The real heroes are the families that have empty spots at the dinner table, an empty bedroom, no husband or wife to go home to, or no mom or dad to take them to the park. Their sacrifice is greater than I could ever dream of.
Your a GREAT American Thank You and Congratulations!! Enjoy the sun and your life.
Another North Carolinian...i just got home from your neck of the woods! Keep up the great work! It sounds like you have a really good plan in place. Also, it sounds like you have a great support system and that is priceless!
Thanks for the encouragement. Last night I had a dream of pills being everywhere and easy to get to. Damn good enemy when it even invades you dreams lol. My fiance and I went out today and just enjoyed it. The part that makes it easier for me to not take em anymore is the Marine code of conduct article 2. Never Surrender. It's not an option. I still kinda have pain every day but my new found friend Goody Powders takes the edge off a little. I have to say I feel better than I did around day 2 and 3. Getting out in the sun helps. 16 days in and advancing.

Nice to hear from you. I check on that literature and have been reading. That's why I haven't been on in a day or so.
Well Done MARINE !!! Congrats an THANK YOU
Thanks for the meltdown.....your post may me cry! Thank you so much for what you have done and continue to do for our country. I am sorry that modern medicine failed you by offering only pills to solve the problem. Probably part of what makes you an awesome Marine is also what spurred you to quit on your own. You are so close to feeling so much more like normal...no turning back now. Keep posting when you can. Everyone here celebrates in each others successes and consoles one another in our difficult hours.

"School Circle": You can do this if you follow two rules: 1) don't worry about any day but the one you're in; and 2) don't change your clean date, no matter what.
as long as you don't use, you can work on your recovery. if you use, you will reactivate your addiction. hard to say what happens then, your relapse might only last a day or two, it could go on for months, or you might never have a clean day again. we're not guaranteed to get back. lots of people die when they go back out.
get these books: 1) End Your Addiction Now, by Charles Gant; 2) Living Clean and Sober, by Miller & Miller; and 3) The Spirituality of Imperfection.
also read the "Bibles" of recovery, NA's Basic Text (first 10 chapters) and AA's Big Book (first 11 chapters)
