Horrible withdrawals from Suboxone

It has been 8-9 days without Suboxone.  I missed a schedule appointment and got dropped from my doctor, having to go cold turkey.  Body aches, body jerks, feeling like my skin is on fire, and electric shock type feelings through my body just don't seem to quit.  How long will this last?

I work full time and take 4mg of suboxone a day, I was hoping that a week of christmas vacation would take care of my withdrawal time, but from reading these posts, I am thinking that it wont be possible. My job cannot know I am on this drug. My boss would not understand. trust me. I cannot lose my job, and also, I cannot find a program that offers any affordable suboxone, I am very low income, I want to stop, I have for a long time, but I have to work. How bad are the symptoms? how low of a dose should I be on before I stop? and how long will this take? Im pretty scared about it. any input would be greatly appreciated.

Salsinator, you answered a question I had about how long withdrawals last on Suboxone .  Daughter was on 8/2 x 3 a day and is now 14 days cold turkey.  I can see she is getting better.  I was hoping it was going to be in the next day or two but realistically it may be another week.  Ugh

After 4-5 days jumping off 2 mg, the withdrawals were so intense and showed no sign of slowing down.  I ran out before going on vacation to the Dominican Republic.  Luckily I was able to get codeine over the counter down there and took a low dose of that the rest of the week to hold back withdrawal and at least try and enjoy my vacation.  I went back on sub whine I got home for nearly another2 years.  In the end, I could nit quit on my own, even tapering down to 1 mg.  I went through an 8 day detox program at an addiction specialists.  Wes well worth it and I was back to "normal" within a month to 5 weeks.

Take care,

Glad she is feeling better.  Just keep m ovine forward, it will continue to improve.  Sorry to hers about the fibromyalgia, I have heard that it can be very painful.  There are more options available to treat that these days that are not narcotic.  Best of luck to you

Good morning!  Made it through another night.  The body jerks are settling down.  She thinks her Adderall has helped.  Thanks so much for your responses.  This forum has been a God send for us.  I have picked up several things over-the-counter that have been suggested.  I'm not sure that the Toradol has been that helpful.  She needs some good rest.  She was seeing a pain management doctor for 8 years, MVA and fibromyalgia.  He put her on Fentyal patch for 5 years and then a counselor suggested she try Suboxone.  This Suboxone stuff has been an education -- not many doctors know that much about it.  Again, thanks for your comments.

You have received some good advice here.  The positive part of tHis is that you are over half done with the withdrawal. Typically the worst part is over in 10-14 drays, but there can be lingering effect a for some time because suboxone is so strong and it does take time to get totally out of your system. The support you are giving your daughter is the best thing she could ever ask for.  Moving forward I am assuming that she was seeing a pain specialist for a reason. Hopefully she can gettgat under control and if she does have a problem with opiates, get into a good support program.  Haveherread your posts and start posting here.  We are all here to help and share from our own experience. All the best to you

This has been a very helpful form.  I will try to get her to get on it.  I'm sure she has other questions and could definitely use the support.

Thanks for you great information.  I am really the mother whose daughter is going through all this.  It has been horrible to watch and just can really make me mad at the medical world.  I didn't write back because we had to go to the ER.  They think she had a reaction to Phenergan which caused really bad body jerks (every 1-2 seconds).  Gave her an IV of Benadryl to counteract and a shot of Toradol to relieve pain.  She really doesn't want to use Vicodin and taper off, but I am beginning to wonder if we shouldn't.  Don't know if I mentioned, but she had been on Suboxone for 2 years, moved closer to family because of a divorce.  After getting in with a new physician, she finds out no one prescribe Suboxone for pain; she has to go back to her doctor who has been prescribing Suboxone.  She thinks she is doing great by using less and less.  When she finally get back with that doctor, she has fallen off his patient Suboxone DEA protocol and, he can't prescribe it to her.  She didn't realize that she had to be seen within 6 months or she is dropped.  Can't find another physician.  Has just been a nightmare.  Bottom line, she is now 9-10 days off Suboxone and dealing with it with Tylenol, Ibuprofen, Lorazepam, hot baths.

I will go get the vitamins you mentioned and the Highlands restful legs.  Have been trying so hard to find something more natural to help her.  Horrible to watch and so helpless feeling.  Been praying a lot.  Thanks so much.

8/2 three times a day, but I usually only took half of the dose.  It's crazy, not able to get into another Suboxone doctor and there aren't that many.  The clinic I went to recently only one doctor prescribes it but for drug addiction, and I had been on it for pain management so he will not take me on.  Thought I would be past the worst part by now.  Terrible body jerks.
