I totally agree with flmagi. Depending on your injury you may want to look into a Facet, that is an injection that kills the nerve that is causing the pain. Dr.s LOVE to put you on pain meds especially Pain Management Docs, they get that deductible and your money EVERY month to pay for their vacation homes. Be VERY careful and get off all meds if you can. I know from experience.
Darvocet are a mild pain med, but they are still an opiate and addictive. Be careful when you go to the pain mngmngt. doctor, they may try to put you on something stronger. I would suggest you get off all pain meds and then reevaluate your pain, since taking pain meds can actually increase your pain. You may find after stopping the meds that you are able to handle the pain with over the counter stuff. At least ask the doctor for some kind of non narcotic med. There are a few pain killers out there that the docs say aren't addictive, but they really are. And I can't remember what they are right now. I think Ultram is one of them.
As far as getting off the darvocet, you can either taper or just go cold turkey. let us know what you're thinking of doing and we'll be here to help. Keep posting.
that is a tough one...what is the cause of your back pain? Do you have a diagnoses?
