Stopping xanax a (benzodiazepines) suddenly is dangerous. You could have seizures. What dosage are you on? You need to taper off.
Ambient should also be tapered.
These drugs have a long detox and withdrawal.
Your doctor definitely needs to work with you and tapering off of both these meds.

I'm not addicted to Vicodin or anything like that.. But I have taken Ativan at high doses over a long period of time.  When I'd abruptly stop taking them, I'd wake up in the middle of the night sweating and stuff.  Dreams become more vivid.  It'll take a month for the Ativan withdrawal to end.

Slept well last night, woke up with terrible backache, took Goody's powder, didn't have any convulsions ,nausea, or diarhea. Feel weak and shaky, I took one a day energy vitamin pill. Hope today is a good one. Haven't taken any ativan yet, but from what I hear on this group, I better take one today because it may be dangerous to cold turkey on them. Hope everyone is doing good, hang in there !!!

Well had a pretty good day, worried about the ativan, am in pain, but better than the withdrawal symptons by far, don't know if they will return tonite or not, two weeks of this have left me very weak and the pain in back and joints is returning. Still working on the ativan withdrawal, thank goodness I have one more refill to try and make it work, I just hope the panic attacks don't return, been in the emergency room twice thinking I was having a heart attack, pull off the road to die so I wouldn't wreck and hurt someone else, hope this doesn't return. Thanks for all the support and don't quit responding for I'm sure It's not over yet.

thats one of the biggest problems ive seen on this board.. the dr.'s that gave us the pills for so long either leave their pratice, or we move and have to change dr.'s theres alot of other reasons but all have the same answer.. New Dr. = im not going to give you what your last doctor gave you.. thats it... its like i dont care what kind of pain your in, i dont know you and as far as the new dr knows, your just a drug seeker.. im luckly there i have been with the same doctor for like 10 years, the first 6 years i never had any pain problems. but once they started. (the pain problems) i guess he knew me well and didnt have any problems giving me my monthly script for hydro"s.. and this has been going on for 4 years.. as long as i get my blood work and and see him 1 time every 6 months, he keeps giving them to me.. i just had surgery last month and i thought that was going to be the end of him giving me my hydro. i was ready, set my goal for feb. 5th. ok feb came and i quit.. like around the 13, i was talking to my nerosurgeon's nurse about some pain i was having, she said it was normal. i didnt even know she called in a new script. walgreens called and said to come and pick it up.. i fought for 2 days with this, i caved in , picked up the script. and started taking again..made it 10 days.. then saw my reg dr. last tuesday had my med list in my hand, and he just took it and wrote refills for some , added some new meds, and wrote 6 months next to lortab.. he gave me a 6 month supply.. i was floored... in this 2 weeks it has been raining hydro's only in my house.. i still want to quit.. and i fight with myself everyday about this.. i think i went off the subject.. sorry.. i went c/t off my cybalta for like 4 days, i did not like it at all. been told by alot of people not to c/t off any anti-depressnet.. very bad.... stay strong diane

Are you taking the Ativan as you always have? You need to wean off Ativan very slowly, or be at risk for seizures or stroke or worse.
Do Not quit the Ativan cold turkey.
If you went cold turkey off the hydrocodone only, you should be done with the withdrawels. Let me know what you're doing about the Ativan.

I've gotten a call from another website, they recommend some CNC vitamin drinks, and are worried about my ativan being worse than the hydrocodone, I do have some left, and one more script of the ativan, going to wean off of them. They recommended after this is all over to get a lawyer and pursue the internal medicine practictioner company for cutting me off so abruptly. They say coming off of ativan after 2-3 yrs could actually cause people to murder without knowledge,,,,,,,,,,, scary for me!!!
Thanks for the support and I'm not over it yet, so keep hanging in there with me.

The pain may actually get better. As our bodies settle in to being clean the pain levels decrease.

You should be through the worst with the hydrocodone. Ativan takes a bit longer. I would say that you'll be better next week.
