I went c/t off 1200 + mg a day which is dangerous due to the risk of seizures. I have a slight h/a even now 27 days later, but the depression and lack of sleep was the worst for me I was also quite irratable. They say the Thomas recipe and amino acid protocol helps ( bottom Right of page). It is doable but uncomfortable to say the least.
Good luck and God bless.
Slow tapers are the way to go .dropping one pills every 4 days. It will help your body adjust to lower amounts of the drug .slow and steady wins the race.
I know you can do this. I was taking 16 a day for about 2 years and did it CT I have heard it can be dangerous to CT but I do not know. For me the biggest WD sympotm was the depression and no sleep, i'm still a little up and down but getting better. I really hate this drug with a passion. There was no magic bullet for me If you have the will power to taper I say do that. I wish you the best you can do it peace Steve
I was up to 12 -> 50mg tabs of Tramadol a day (600mg total) when I realized that I no longer was getting the same feeling of euphoria that i was used to and again I faced the decision of either upping the dosage again, quit CT or begin a taper.
Actually, that's how I had worked up to 12 a day...always needing more to maintain the high. Always thought that I was in control until one day when I forgot to pack some T for a road-trip and found out before noon that same day how little control I really had over life...a true wake-up call for me.
At that point I finally knew that there would never be an end to what I would need to keep my euphoria maintained and that scared me. Combined with increasing short-term memory lapses, poor financial decisions, the loss of my sexual drive and the feeling that I was slowly losing my mind It finally began to dawn on me then that I really had no longer had any choice other than to either quit ct or taper down dramatically and then go CT.
N/A has a saying of which I found very true for me, "1 pill is too many and 1,000 is never enough!'
Because of prior anxiety issues I chose a taper, but everyone is different and what works for one drug dependent user may not work for another. But it's also been said that sudden withdrawal from large doses of tramadol could be dangerous. I believe that a taper is easier/healthier on the body/mind but not practical for everyone.
You'll know when you're ready to start a new life without tramadol and with which method to go with, please take the time to read what's been posted on this forum regarding tramadol addiction for there is a vast wealth of info of which will help you get clean. NA was also a great resource for me as it helped me finally see that I was a closet addict that was in great denial over my addiction to pain pills.
Hope this helps, I know this post is somewhat disjointed but I'm pressed for time and just wanted to give you a partial Reader's Digest version of my experience with tramadol.
Best choices to you!

I don't think there is a true magic detox potion. Drink lots of fluids and walking helps move the lymph system. Check out avisg, in her journals is tapering info on trams.

If you need more help with a tapering plan, she's the right one for that.
