Day 8, when does it get better?

I think I'm through the worst of the WD, but every morning I wake up feeling sick and nauseous.  I haven't been able to exercise which I was doing in the morning even on the pills.  I am still taking Xanax, but am tapering off.  My dr. Cut me off of those too; I wasn't abusing them, but my body is dependent.  I can barely sleep only having 2 mgs. per day.  I have an apt w/ new dr. Who I've been honest with, but she can't give me any more Xanax till I see her.  Heck, i dont even know if she will give me more, but I figured i couldnt go cold turkey on both the Vicodin and Xanax at the same time.  Any suggestions for help sleeping?  Thanks to all for the support.

I forgot to mention that what you sent about the "opiate abused" brain makes total sense.  I detoxed myself in March and only made it for a month because the cravings were so bad.  I will def be purchasing some supplements; especiall the B Complex and L-Tyrocine you recommended.

Thanks for the tips; I appreciate it and will def give them a try.  I was exercising and eating pretty healthy, believe it or not on the Vicodin, but have not had the energy to do either since stopping.  I know I have to take that first step and get out there.  Thanks again for your encouragement and suggestion.

Thanks and I think you are completely right about only caring about her license.  I did dr. shop the vicodin, but not the xanax. The ironic thing is that when she first started me on the xanax, I expressed concern about getting addicted to them.  Her response was to increase my dosage.  I think she's a pill pusher and I'm sure I'm not the only patient whose been affected. It just seems so unethical what she has done.  I know I've played my part as well.
I'm trying to stretch them out to make it to an apt with my new dr.

These stupid doctors are only worried about losing the license. They are following the new protocol for the data base on doctor shopping. They totally don't care that you are a person with a problem! Totally inhumane but don't think you can sue. Another good reason to get off the demon pills. Don't c/t off the Xanax though. Congrats on 8 days

Yeah, that just sounds like an all around bad deal. I'm sorry you are in this position. Just really try to spread your doses out so you don't run out. Hopefully your new doctor is understanding about all of this. Good luck to you girl!

I was not abusing the Xanax, but my body is definitely dependent.  All the dr's office will tell me is that they sent me a certified letter which I have not been able to pick up at the post office explaining why she will no longer treat me.  I completely understand where she is coming from on the Vicodin, but think it's wrong not to honor the final xanax script.  She wrote it on Oct 1st and I didn't try to fill it until the 16th- that's when I found out she cancelled it.
I am def planning on being honest with the new doctor.  I just hope I can make it with the little amount I have left.  I was taking more than usual to get through the withdrawals.

I don't understand how she just cut you off either, but it happens a lot. I see a lot of folks that get cut off and don't even know the risks of stopping their meds abruptly. I don't think there is any legal repercussions for this, but I could be wrong. Were you abusing the Xanax? I know they can cut you off if you are abusing them, but the humane thing to do is to offer you a final script for a taper. I'm really glad that you are getting in with a new doctor so you can taper off of them properly. Just be sure to be 100% honest with them. Otherwise stuff might come back and bite you in the butt!

Thanks everybody for the kind words and support.  I know I need to exercise, but can barely make it just getting to work and taking care of my daughter.  Last week I stayed home from work for 2 days it was so bad.

I have heard you can't stop xanax cold turkey and I have exactly enough left to take 2 mgs a day until I see my new dr.  I am so frustrated because the dr. that prescribed the pills canx my prescription and won't even speak to me on the phone.  She has just abandoned me.   I know I am responsible for my addiction, but feel she has been negligent as well.  I don't understand how it is ethical for her to do that knowing I am at risk for seizures if I just stop.  Does anyone know if there is any legal accountability on her part?

Hey! Please listen to my friends above about the Xanax. It can be dangerous to go cold turkey off of that kind of drug. You need to do a slow steady taper under the care of a doctor. As far as the opiate withdrawals, you should be through the worst of the physical symptoms. Great job on making it 8 days! Keep it up because things just keep on getting better and better. Try to keep in mind that some of your symptoms may be related to cutting down on your dose of Xanax. Try to be patient and push through this. Try to push yourself to exercise a little. I know it's hard and you feel like you can't do anything physical, but you can. The more you do, the better you will feel, the faster you will heal, and the better you will sleep. Stay strong! You are doing a fantastic job!! :)

Your doing great at 8 days! Congrats!  Sleep is usually the last thing to return. Ride it out for a few more days and you should start to get more and more. You definitely don't want to do a home detox on the Xanax. Those withdrawals are a whole other animal. Depending on long you've been taking them and what milligram you were taking you need to be under a doctors guidance for that. Good luck to you and again CONGRATS ON DAY 8!!!!

Hi and welcome . You should start feeling better soon. Congrats on day 8 !!
You cannot cold turkey xanax PERIOD .Please stretch out your remaining supply until you can get to your doctor's appointment ,even if it's not comfortable you must make them last . How many do you have left.  Let your doctor put you on a safe and slow taper for the xanax so you do not have seizures.  Hang in there and keep posting .This is a great place to be for recovery help and support. Welcome  ;)
