Suboxone addiction w/d

I have been on Suboxone for 4 years and now my husband & I are wanting a baby so I know it's time to be off. I was on 2 pills a day and for the past 2 months have been taking 1/4 of a pill a day. My last 1/4 was last Friday. The 1st & 2nd day I went w/o anything.. Then I had to go back to work so I took a loratab Tues., Wed. & today.. Last night was the worst night ever.. Could that be making it worse? Or is it just gonna take a while to get out of my system. Whenever I went thru rehab years ago I don't remember ever feeling this bad. Any advice would be appreciated!

Hi chris, am i right in thinking you from Doncatraz;). Glad to hear that you are doing so well mate. How have you been feeling while you have been tapering? When i got near the end i felt every drop!!! Because of that, i was to eager to get it over with, if you know what i mean. As a consequence i think i stopped a bit earlier than i should of. These Subs were only designed to be used for a short detox. I reckon when you have been on them long term the're harder to come off than the meth? You hang in there mate, you have come to far to falter now. Just the last hurdle to jump. You're right about getting support and establishing new ways of thinking. I would go as far as to say that they are the most important things, when it comes to relapse prevention anyway. Good luck. Blue

Thats good you should deffinitely drop right down to 0.2 less if you can. I was on it for 2 years, stopped at 0.2 and still went through a c/t!!! I would reccomend, even when your down to the minnimum amount, that you still take that for a couple of weeks. If that is still holding you then go to every other day. This drug is different, the more you draw out the taper, the less withdrawals you should feel when you stop. Unfortunately for us people who were told its ok to use to maintain, as it will be easy to get off when you're ready. We were sold a lie im afraid. I will say, I should of known better, there is no easy ride coming off opiates. As im sure you already know. You have been on Subs four years. You really do need to take your time tapering.Good luck, and keep posting for support. Blue

You are right.. The w/d are HORRIBLE!! Tom. will be 1 week w/o any subs @ all and I still feel as bad as I did. It's not getting better at all. The tab just gets the shakes down enough so I can go to work but not helping. Think I'm gonna try what you said and see if I can go down to a sliver of a piece when I absolutely need it & see if that'll work better. I really thought going down to 1/4 or 2mg would be ok. Thanks for the advice!

if you are coming off at 2mg(which am guessing here),that could be a little high.you will find the WD quite unpleasant,RLS,twitchie insomnia to name a few.its do-able dont get me wrong but you will find the WD lasting weeks not days.if you been on sub years tapering right down to 0.2mg or lower would minimize WD.But everyones different.takecare.chris

The initial withdrawal symptoms will be similar to coming off other opiates. I dont want to scare you, however, i will not sugar coat it. It can last for a long time coming off the Subs!!! How many mg were you taking when you you stopped? and how long ago? Taking other opiates will not work if you have only just stopped the Subs. keep posting. Blue
