Trixie's First NA Meeting...

Well, I did it. I cased the joint for a good 15 minutes to make sure I didn't have any work connections in the room, and finally felt brave enough to walk in. It was a great experience. I left feeling accountable to return. Thanks everyone for settling my fears and pushing me to go. And just FYI, I didn't give the name Trixie, but I did use an alias just in case. :)

Just get a hold of one of the Mods. You can go up to the Top and go into a Community or you can hit Contact us on the bottom of the page.

We have a few of us that are Community Leaders on here, but this one takes the mods to send out for the change.

I came on with my initials vvic and got this new name from some friends on here. It did not take to long for them to change.

Done and done Vic! Lol. I kind of regretted the whole puppies name after a while anyhow. I was trying to come up with something cute and cuddly when I first signed on because I was in full blown WD's and it seemed so happy. :)  But after a while, I felt like sarcastic humor in puppies was missed by folks on here, and I figured with puppies, people pictured me as some flaky woman wearing 1980's "mom jeans" and one of those hideous Christmas sweaters with dogs on them in Santa hats. Not that there's anything against people like that, but crazy cat/dog lady fashions aren't really my style. lol

Haha Meeg! Trixie isn't my name, it was just the most ridiculous alias I could think of when I was trying to covertly go to NA meetings. Just trying to infuse a little humor in the forum. And I loved Trixie Belden books. :) Although, I think of it more as a stripper name now. Lol.

Congragulations to you for getting it!!!!  You obviously get it.  I found a support in N/A unlike no other. They are my 2nd family and loved me uncondionally, until I could love myself. I'm still a work in progress but am coming up on 2 years clean!  N/A, I found, gave me the tools to help change my thinking and they way I did things.  Us addicts....we're a real special bunch.  Keep going!

Hey...well a big congrats for stepping out of your comfort zone and getting to  your first meeting.....this is the single best thing you can do for your recovery....so many people try do go it alone  and most fail we see them over and over again on the forum....aftercare is a critical part of the process....it wasent until I embraced it that I could string more then 6 mo clean...my advise...get to as many meetings as you can when your comfortable start to share whats going on with you  the people there will understand...as much as wifes husbands and close friends help  unless your a addict you just dont get it...im proud of you you will be one of the ones thats makes it  keep posting for support...........Gnarly
