Anyone else get these symptoms?

When i stop taking opiates i get severe bouts of heartburn and have never really seen anyone post anything about it, i take acid reducers when this happens and it usually helps with the problem for the most part.  Also when i quit its almost a guarantee that i will get RLS but the same herky jerky feelings that i get in my legs also show up in my elbows and i was just wondering if anyone else has these types of pains in their elbows?

I had real bad heartburn when i stopped using.  I took Zantac and that helped.  Munch on some bananas during the day too.  They are good in potassium and helps with the RLS.

Hi Skoal

Good for you for wanting to quit the pills and go back to a healthier lifestyle!  It's what I did 35 days ago now...
I was prescribed my meds for chronic illness/pain (Crohns, Rheumatoid Arthritis, severe endometriosis)  but I felt the pills were taking over my life and I was miserable so I jumped at 100 mg oxy...
You know detox is rough-as you've said you've been through it.  The Thomas Recipe helps a lot...If you do this with support of your doc it's easier...I know it's hard to come clean but if you feel you can there are non-addictive meds that help with detox process...
Or you can do it naturally...A lot of people do and it is hard for 4-7 days but it if you keep positive and look at it as re-claiming your life...It' s totally do able.
The healthy lifestyle and alternate pain management strategies are key for recovery...I actually find that massage, yoga, saunas, hot baths, cardio exercise and a healthy diet and vitamin regime have me in LESS pain than I was on the opiates....
There is a lot of info and support on this forum...Just let us know whatever you need.....Lu

thank you for the response, for about the last two years i have been taking around a 100mgs a day of lortabs(mainly) my scrip is only for 30mgs a day so i am really messing up there, cut it down to about 50mgs a day for about the last week and am just waiting to take "the jump" as most people on here say till my work schedule allows which will hopefully be this weekend, i have had psoriatic arthritis for about seven years now and when i was diagnosed i kinda turned into a health food and gym freak to help control my flare ups, guess i can't be that much of a health freak if i am abusing these dang pills though

Hi Skoal,

Yes-I have experienced all of these symptoms while detoxing off opiates.  There are some great natural supplements that work for a lot of people for the RLS...Hylands Leg Cramps (with quinine)  bananas, magnesium and potassium supplements, hot baths with epsom salts etc...
Our bodies go through a lot while detoxing and it's important to put good things in as all the poison is coming out.  The hot bath helped me a lot with the restlessness and pain-as did massaging my calves and elbows.  Exercise really helps as well.

Have you stopped the opiates?  What day are you on?  There is lots of info on this forum so stick around....Lu
