Trying to get off of Clonazepam

Like the title says I'm trying to taper off Clonazepam I've been taking it for I don't know how many months 6or 8 maybe a little less than 6 or more I can't distinctly remember.I'm down to around 3mg a day 3 seperate times and I've tried to go cold turkey but I made it a few days then  started again.I have no access to Diazepam so I can't use that so I'm stuck with using Clonazepam.I'm basically trying to taper to the point where I have the most minimal symptoms I've been through alcohol/xanax withdrawal before and went cold turkey a few times and made it through but that was before I had a family and now that I have a family I find it harder to quit which is why I'm not going the same old cold turkey route plus I've had seizures in the past from going cold turkey so any input would be great, thanks.O btw I sometimes would take a suboxone and since they last so long I'd stop taking Clonazepam for a few days until the Suboxone wore off then I'd start taking Clonazepam again also it seems like after my recent attemp to stop when I couldn't do it or gave up and quit and started taking again it doesn't seem to take all the symptoms away like it usually would and I don't know why but what I do know is I want to get off this stuff and try to get off of it as painlessly as possible sure I'm ready to deal with some withdrawals but I'm really trying to make them minimal I never tapered before.

Man I feel for you not having insurance.  Can you try to raise enough money (ask friends, family, whoever to contribute what they can) to get a decent dr.visit just so they can set you up with a taper schedule on a longer acting benzo?  Or what about a free clinic?  It's crazy- here in Canada our health care is free.  The upside of this is I can literally see a doctor whenever I want and get proper treatment.  My meds are also almost entirely covered.  The downside of this is that things like surgery (which I'm in dire need of ATM) and exploratory testing takes FOREVER because we have to stand in line.
I guess there are ups and downs.
How are you feeling?  Are you still tapering?
Do you take the clonazepam for anxiety?
I was on clonazepam while I was on prednisone for my Crohn's because it caused me terrible anxiety.  It was a long time ago but I am pretty sure my dose was .25 mg/3 times a day.  I tapered by cutting the middle dose, sat there for a couple of months, then cut the first dose, sat there for a couple of months, then cut the final dose.  I had no withdrawal and felt no anxiety.  Of course, I also went off the prednisone first (the cause of the anxiety)
I wish you well friend.  I am down by another 2.5 mg and will be off it entirely in 4 months.
I can't freaking wait to be PILL FREE!!!  Hopefully forever (:

You've been through this as you mentioned so you know how dangerous benzo w/d can be.  If you want to be successful and get off these pills with minimal harm to yourself then you MUST have medical supervision for a good taper plan.  You need a doctor to get you a longer acting benzo and taper from there.  I've been tapering for over a year and I am almost off.  It hasn't been all that hard because I have gone very very slow.  But I don't take the benzo for anxiety, I take it to sleep.  So this is different I know.

I have been through Xanax withdrawals and anything from a sedative *****. You know where you are and the crap you will feel.  You can do this it's not worth staying on it.  Remember how great you felt when no drugs were involved. Hang in there friend don't give up.

Tapering can be hard for many. It seems a lot of people have success when they have someone helping them and being involved. Its easier to break our own rules when nobody is looking. You say you have been through alcohol withdrawals before and supposedly that is the worst of them all. Since you made it through that Im sure you can do this as well. I would definitely have someone on board though (if it were me)....a doc preferably since you've had seizures in the past.

Wish you the best of luck friend.
