AA NA--How important?

I need some opinions on these aftercare programs.  I did AA for ten months after my detox, and was clean for that time.  I'm having my doubts about the effectiveness of the program.  Is this just my addiction talking to me getting me to blow off meetings?  Any and all opinions are welcome.

They don't appeal to me, but I'm not a big 'joiner' anyway. They have a cult-like quality that kind of makes me uneasy. But I know that they work for a lot (millions) of people. If it worked for you...it did.

I don't think questioning it is necessarily a addiction 'blow-off' reaction. Everyone is different. And I think it's really individual. Personally, I can't see myself doing it...but you can't discount the many, many people who swear by it.

Whether its aa or na ,a therapist a pastor you needs something if you want long term sobriety .This forum is great but its not aftercare I see so many people here that think once they have gone threw wd and they post here that that's enough there done .Getting clean is the easy part staying  it takes constant work.So aa might have not been the right fit for you try something new just make sure you get something

You went to meeting for 10 months. You stayed clean for 10 months. Now, you question the effectiveness. Only our addictions could make us question something so clear.
