the emotional symptoms where the worst thing i had to deal with. Depending on how long he was taking them and how hard his addiction was, i experienced extreme depression, lose of hope, appetite, and friendless even though i had plenty of friends there to back me up on what i was doing....it is a hard fight..but he must know what is ahead of him and if he is planning on quitting he should have his scheduled filled up with things to do to keep his mind off it...for me the mental/emotional WD's were the hardest part for me...and if it is the same for him i would suggest that he does everything and anything he can to not be alone and not have time to think...i know that sounds silly but the WD's will take over his judgement and he will want to relapse...block all connections with drug dealers prescriptions or however he may be getting them.

Sorry to hear about your friend!!  You are great to look for help for him!  Well, from experience (day 7 in withdrawl) from percocet..... The emotional stuff is different for everyone!  I guess we need to know IF he was prescribed them for pain or if he took them recreationally?  Emotionally he may fell the NEED for them if he is still in pain after w/d.  OR emotionally he may just NEED the high he got from them??  JMO though

Hi.  how much has he been taking and for how long?  generally the WD symptoms are very much like the flu with diarrhea, depression, anxiety, and insomnia thrown in the mix.  oh, and also restless leg syndrome.  with oxys it can last anywhere from 3-10 days...the physical stuff.  the mental emotional stuff may last longer.
