Wanna stop

Hi all - was given Vicodin about five years ago for pain in my side. Thought I had kidney stones but didn't. Found that my focus and energy level increased dramatically when I took the pills. Now I take them just to get through the day. Up to 12 - 10/325's a day. I came clean to my doctor a year or so ago and he was mad and left me hanging. Didn't offer any help and I wasn't even sure what help I might need. So I've tried quitting now and again and always fall back to using because of the low energy and restless legs at night. Those are the two main reasons I fail. I have a good job and great family and I'm afraid that the withdrawal time will be as tough on them as it'll be in me. Any advice would be appreciated. I have to try again and tomorrow is my quit date. I don't have anymore pills and cut off my contacts last week so I had a known quit date in mind.

Today is a great day. I've doubled my days clean - two days now ;) A little humor doesn't hurt. Went to the family dinner which was enjoyable since I wasn't all Vic'd out. It was a good different. Obviously sleep was terrible but I'll keep on keeping on. I know it'll get better with time. Enjoy the day everyone and thank you for your support!

Gnarly, your post gave me a little kick in the a$$. Rather than sick here miserable I got up did some stretching, showered, got dressed, went to 2 grocery stores. Without a doubt I feel much better. Changed my mind about going to a family dinner too. I said I wasn't feeling well earlier but I can man up for a couple hours.

Eyes forward VI :) No tripping allowed here!

Hi all and Gnarly for checking in on me. Unfortunately I couldn't function at work while WDing and was too embarrassed to post. So I took yesterday off and have 1 official day clean. And I have two more days to get through this before working again. If I need to I'll take Monday off too. Trying in the middle of the week was not the best choice in IMO. I'm pretty shot right now and feeling down  But  I'm happy to say 1 day is better than none and I remain committed to succeeding. . Thanks again!

Im tapering my tramadol as of last week. I found out about Elimidrol and gave it a try just yesterday. So far its helping tremendously, and the night formula is amazing as well, no RLS last night, I'll let you know how tonight goes. Id encourage anyone going through opiate withdrawal to look into it. It is pricy however anything that takes away the horrible skin crawling, RLS, fatigue like elimidrol has so far is priceless to me!

All the good juicy info has been told. Good for you for taking on this challenge. You will be glad you did. Fight your way through and your life will be so much better for you and your family. I'm 25 days from suboxone taper. My daughter (9) and I actually laughed our butts off last night and she turned and said, "you know what mom?" I said what? "you are so much nicer and fun since you stopped taking your medicine." Those are the moments that keep me going. Good luck! Read and post on here every chance you get, as the angels on here will keep you going :) Support and cheerleaders are plenty!

I accept tonight might be a rough one but I did make it through a day of work which included bring on a new person. Nothing worse than the first day since it requires much of my attention. Anyway I've taken Hylands restful legs, soaked in an Epsom bath - lol haven't had a bath in years, plenty of showers though :), keep hitting the water, a sprinkle of amodium now and again, and even did a few minor tasks. I've had enough so I'll relax and watch some baseball. Tomorrow AM I'll be able to post that day 1 is in the books. Thanks for all of your support!!

if you have been down this road before then you know what to expect as far as the low energy and the RLS those are always killers many of us hate them so bad that after a week or so your mind tricks you back into the cycle I have been there done that and sound like you have to so what is your new plan when you make it to like day 14-20 ? mine was staying busy plus told everyone that I have a problem and leave me alone I have a high stress position and it was hell pulling off the first 7-10 days but I think that helped me out vs laying on the couch but the veg TV thing seems to work form many out I wish you the best and stay around and we can help you through the tough times ahead.

Made it through the morning. Need to increase the H2O. Was going to take Hylands Restful Legs at 1, 5, and 9. Does that sound like a good way to start? Epsom salt bath tonight. Walking today will be tough today, absolutely pouring out. While the morning had been okay tonight will most likely be difficult but I must do this!

the restless leg is torture but just know that it will pass and you can get through it...its tough to worry about your family and it is the reason (or excuse) I used to avoid stopping drugs...it was never a good time....too many people needed me, my job was really crazy busy just then.....etc etc....but in the end you need to quit and everyone will be better off with you being clean...you know all the reasons and just think...a few days ...a week....two weeks....that is no time at all compared to the years of drug use...

I think gnarly says this a lot...You have to be okay with not being okay for awhile....so just understand that rls is a thing you have to get through on your journey to being clean....so every night you wrestle with it is one less night you have left to endure...we may not know how long it will last for you but we do know it will end...so think of it as thetoxins leaving you and it might help....okay all that and tons of warm tubbies and showers...

Thank all of you for the great advice! Anything to help with the WD's is so appreciated. I didn't know all of the different things that might help. Epsom baths are easy enough, Hylands restful legs sounds very helpful, I can do fruits and veggies, I'll even try walking and exercise, and of course water is always available:) I even have whey in my house. I might be able to squeeze in a walk at work outside so I get some sun. Everything each of shared is very doable and if it helps a little then I'll have a better chance of succeeding. Thank all again and I intend to stay strong as the next week will be challenging. Glad I found this site and I'll check back in to let you know how I'm doing!

Welcome and congratulations on the decision to take your life back!!!
There isn't much more I can add that hasn't been said above!  You got some thorough and great advice!!!
I can say what helped me and what I discovered.  One of the most beneficial things for me during WD was getting outside!!  Even when I didn't feel like it I would take the dog out for walks at least once a day!  The walking and fresh air helped any RLS I had and I believe it helped me to sleep too!!!  And the thing I discovered was that WD was not as bad as I thought it would be!  We all are different and some have it easier than others but what I had built up in my mind was no where near what I experienced! I had almost a week off from work to do it and found that I was eager to get back and felt well enough to do so!
Another benefit you will find is the money you save!  I read that you stopped getting them from your Dr a year or so ago...so I'm guessing you needed to pay for them!  I know for me that was really expensive!!  So that's another plus!!
Keep on posting and let us know how you are getting on!  Congratulations again on your decision to quit!!!   <3

Hi & Welcome to our site.

Lesa gave you some great info here. Yep, these meds really whack out many of our Brain Chems. All those transmitters, hormones, receptors and so much more get really whacked out and out of line. This is why it takes so long to bounce back. Time & Patience it what it will take.
One of the BIG thing is to make sure you drink tons of water. This will help flush things out. Take some lemon and add this to your water. You can even add a dash of sea-salt if you are not on a sodium restrict diet. This will help keep you hydrated. The best thing to is to pick up some of that Protein Mix. You can add berries to the mix and make a shake. Antioxidants are so important now. Amino-Acids are so important. You can go to the store and look for products like Emergen-C. They have tons of ones that say Electro Mix and some that say Immune Support. These are cheap and you can add them to water too. I bought all mine from a natural source and still use them today.
Like Lesa said..the Magnesium, Potsium, Calcium and Ds will help relax your muscles and calm you down for sleep. There are TONS of different Magnesium. I buy mine from Wellness Resources and I get the Relax-Mag and the Muscles-Mag. A bit over 3yrs later I still take them with my D-3 oil and I sleep good and calm down too.

I do think the Energy thing has to come back on it's own but you can help by doing that exercising too. It just take some time for the Brain/Body to find it's natural balance after the removal of these stims. The Amino-Acids should help along with the Bs, Cs and so forth. BUT like I said Time & Patience is the big key here. Make sure you can eat a very healthy diet right now. Try to avoid sugars and caffeine at first. Your energy will come back!!

I wish you the best and keep checking your post. Stick around for Support and in the long run you can help Support others on here along the way. It is a good way to keep your mind off of your thinking during detox..Ha!

Hi Belly Welcome to the forum.. Congratulations on your decision to quit !! Your family yourself will be so much better off.. The restless legs can be helped with potassium, lots of bananas our and also they sell a product called Hylands restful leg I used it and it helped my hubby still uses the cramp ones. walking also helps as does exercise. walking helps with everything. The busier you stay the better, your energy will be low but if you force yourself to walk and such you will have more. You need to make the feel good endorphin and that is the way to do it. The drugs have replaced your Natural ones.. Lots os hot showers out hot baths with Epson salts, Stay Hydrated ! lots of water our a sports drink to keep your electrolytes balanced. eat what makes you happy but eat clean. Protein veg fruits. In 5 days our so the worst will be behind you for the physical although you will not be sleeping still Then we have to deal with the mental aspect.. Keep a Positive attitude during wd and a Grateful outlook will make it all so much easier..  Others will chime in I'm sure I wish you well and You can do this ! keep posting for support.. lesa
