What did you replace your Ritual with?

In the morning when I would wake up...
..I would get the coffee going and go straight to my stash.  Pop a few, and then do a few quick things while the coffee was brewing.  Then, grab the coffee, and whip out the computer to check emails, and news, etc..

In about 30 minutes, ahhhhh , the feeling of calm, normal, relaxed but focussed, etc..
Those days are gone for me.  Wha do I replace it with?

Lately, coffee repulses me, and I wake up lost, more or less.

Hi - I lost my taste for coffee as well; well hot coffee anyway.  My past was similiar to yours but now when I wake up, drink a couple glasses of water, take about 30 pills...lol...aminos, vitamins, etc and then follow up with a few more glasses of water before I go to the gym.

It's working

Well I didnt take them as soon as I woke up in the morning (not usually anyway lol) but one of the hardest ones for me to let go of was the one driving home from work, and now i listen to this radio station that does war of the roses its this thing that they pretend to give out roses to find cheaters I know it sounds stupid but I do look forward to it and it makes me laugh. the other hard one was the last pill of the day, ive been trying to give my neice a bath everynight at that time (shes 14 months old) i spend as much time as i can with her because she makes me smile and so full of love. the kind of love thats unconditional and shes just sooo happy to see me when i get home. not that my own kids dont love me lol its just not the same :)

so sorry you're going trough it.........................find out what vitamins, minerals, and supplemts your body needs..............what has your drug of chioce robbed from you? you may have to see a natural doctor to find out, i did and it was sooooooooooooooo worth it, found out all sorts of interesting stuff about my body........... replace your daily rituals of bad pills with good pills that are acctually supporting your body and not destroying it................

best of luck to you god speed and god bless......

I'm going to try not to be too "clinical" here but here is what I think.

People with pain med problems are creatures of habit and have at some level, an addictive personality.  This is stating the obvious.

However, breaking the "chain of events" that lead up to taking the pills is probably one of the most important things to stay clean.

Remember what you used to love to do before you screwed yourself up? Well, get back to it.  Or do something radically different that will now become your regular routine.

When I was taking the pills, the energy gave me motivation to do basically all of the housework for my wife.  In my mind I thought I was doing a good thing but she thought that I didn't think she was doing a good enough job and would get pissed.  I now try to break that cycle by talking with her about what each one of us would like to do or not doing anything at all.

Displacement - interesting word, but this is what you need to do with your habits and finding other ones to focus your energy on.

I never had a "ritual" to speak of.  I'd get up and get ready for work, take a couple of pills and head off.  I guess I had the advantage that I didn't really crave the pills or the high associated with them.  I took them for the energy and focus.  All that is coming back now on its own and I feel great.

You have to convince yourself that what you were looking for out of the pills is indeed doable without them.  Once you are past that, things will be good.

I had that same problem. I take my vitamins. Or eat chocolate(: It was hard to get out of bed for a while but that goes away.

i take walks in our woods with the camera in hopes of getting a good picture of a deer, fox, nature,  or what have you. Not sure if you have access to a place you could take a peaceful walk or not like that? Even if you dont, a brisk early morning walk-- no matter if its city or country will do you good!
