What if someone really doesn't want to get off herion

My son's parole officer gave him a doctors name to get on this suboxone, I dont think he really wants to get off herion, he says he likes the high of herion but he is on the verge of going back to prison if he don't get off of it....can anyone offer him any advise,this will be his third time to prison....HELP!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Yeah the criminal activity involved with this........isnt pleasant at all.

I too hated using.....i was just too scared to do anything about it....i didnt know what to do! But i did it...and so can your son. It is so achievable.

I believe he really hates doing it because of all the criminal behavior that comes along with it,he tells me he hates using, but he also tells me he loves the high...I know HE has to want this for himself, the flippin wolves call here all the time, i have blocked so many numbers from my phone they are bound to give up....thanks to all of you for the advise and I am going to let him read all that you caring people have to say, after all, you should know right?

true he has to want it to get off.

but i think alot of times peoples priorities/choices can change with a little sobering up.

if you can figure a way to get him to ween with the subox

as we all know, he has to WANT to stop using.  if the desire to kick does not come from him but is being forced upon him then chances are even if he does clean up he probably won't stay for very long.  perhaps he really does have to hit rock bottom (again) several times before he himself feels the need to stop.

If he enjoys the high from Heroin....he wont stop when put on Suboxone (in my opinion). He NEEDS to WANT this before he will get off that. I was a Heroin addict for 8+ yrs...in the end...it was my decision to come off it....no one else's. If anyone would have wanted me to come off it......i wouldnt have done it....i wouldnt have been ready. Your Son needs to want this himself....he needs the desire to want to be drug free.

Just tell him that he wont be able to get herion or Suboxone in prison....so it would be better to just use the Suboxone on the outside....
