cravings

I'm on day 5 of quitting hyrdocondone.  i'm using the thomas recipe and started the vitamins and such this morning.  i got a call from someone i used to get my pills from and though i was able to politely say "no thank you"   my mind has been spinning ever since.   i'm literally sitting in front of my computer with my palms sweaty and shaking trying to stay away from the telephone.  i thought once i got to this far the cravings would be better.  in fact, the first day was bad but after that i was fine.  Until right now.  my head is coming up with a millione excuses on why it would be okay just to take one pill.

locate an NA meeting they will take you in with open arm and support you no matter who u are what you did or where you come from. They will make every effort to get you to a meeting everyday. They love the new person and make you the primary person at the meeting. Scared, nervous, upset it does not matter you will soon have a warm and fuzzy that you have not had in quiet a while. these places are life savers as well as a great place to make new friend and surround your self with people just like you who want to help you.

I promise you go in with a open mind and you will not be disappointed. If not then just leave but at least give it a try. If you are going through WD this is the best place to be to pass time and absorb what they have to give you. they all have been there before and will give you suggestions that you just can't get from someone who is not an addict.

God bless, feel better, and lots of love

any questions let me know

well i know where you are coming from. I am on day 10 have absolutely no urge for vicodin other than for the fact that i CANT SLEEP EVER.  Just like you i was on day 4 took 3 days off work to stay in bed and WD.  on day 4 I returned to work (mind you i turned my cell phone off during those first 3 days) turned my phone back on and had cant remember now either 4 or 6 people call me on that day.  Probably were trying to call during the 3 days phone was off.  I siad no to all and am glad I did.  Dont let the urge get the best of you.  It will ruin your life.  Health and monetary.  I have spent over $20,000 over the past 2 years on vicodin.  Only could get mine on the street because my dr would never believe me for whatever reason i told him i needed them.  I hope you keep up the good work.  get around day 5-6 and most WD's should be over except for the RLS and insomnia.  Guess it depends on haw many you were taking per day I for example was taking 30 750ES per day.  So withdrawals were a bit hellish.  Make it a few more days and you are on the way home.  Good luck

Yep, every minute coming up with another excuse to take a pill, I think we've all been there. Good advice from the others on ways to get through it.

If you are likely to get more of those calls and you don't absolutely trust yourself at this point unplug the phone for a few days or at least put it straight to message. Put as many hurdles in front of yourself so if you a have moment of madness you cannot act on it.

And well done saying no, you should be proud of yourself.

First off, CONGRATS for saying no!!!!!! that, in and of itself is a big step!!!

Think about this, what wold 1 pill do? after a few hours, then what?

There is never "just 1 pill"...

Have u gone to an NA meeting? You did good by coming on here instead of saying yes...

What helps me when I'm craving is a walk. Just start, and before you know it, you will have walked right through your cravings. You could also go to the gym if you can. Maybe clean the house. Or sit here and read old(and new) posts.

You know it's not ok to just take one. It will most definitely lead to another and...I understand the cravings you are having(anxiety, pit in my stomache, mind racing). Sometimes, just knowing you are not alone and it will pass will help. You've already made it to day 5. Don't stop now! You're on your way to the best life ever. You can make it through this!

Well I am quitting oxycodone and dilaudid and I am worried about those phone calls too, I ve decided to pick a computer game that is mindless enough to be addictive popup games are the best Ive lost hours to those before so have my kids lol try turning your phone off and getting absorbed in that, Or I LOVE World of warcraft people to talk to while you play keeps me busy too. Ive got my things on a check list by the phone incase I get the same calls I can say no and pick one off the list instead. I hope it helps me hope it will help you too.
