What to do

Dose anyone recommend the methadone 21 day program for detoxing off of pills or should I just go to a 5day detox program at the hospital? I have taking suboxon to try and get off pills for going on 3yrs now. The one and only time I succeed was the first time I ever took them. I took them over a five day span starting with a quarter next day half next day three quarters and back to a half and a quarter. I felt AMAZING!!!!! For one hole month I was 100% clean and felt like me again after wk two.no withdrawals all I felt was like I was soo lazy I didn't wanna do much but only lasted a few days after I stopes taking the suboxon. But now I have been back in forth with pills and subs for the passed 3yrs! I have lost so much and deserve so much more! I am 26 yrs old and have my life in my hands and this is not me I swear to my self as a child coming from a drug addict family I will not do that to my self!!! I have lost jobs,been evicted,and have straight up WASTED. The passed 5yrs of my life!! My 20's too 'best yrs ever' ya right.... But I want me back..happy,go lucky, boo yaa me!! I know this game and I have my mind set on quitting. I am ready to erase every number in my phone and ANY person in my life that I feel will be a threat to my being sober.... No doubt about it I have been ready but I can't get off the suboxon without being just as sick as if I took perc 30s for weeks on end!! So I feel my only options are DETOX or Meth Clinic...my biggest thing is 1 I can't be so sick I want to die..I know it's not going to be a walk in the park just not so intense on the sickness. Second I don't want to stay on something forever and just have to rely on another drug for months/yrs to come!!! I am ready I have been ready.. I will do meetings and I would love to see a DR.Shrink. I will be committed 150% if I can just get thru the first few days!!!!

HI.....I agree with the other  posters stay away from the methadone those 21 day detox's make you miserable and you still go threw withdrawals sub is no fun to come off of but tapering off that would be a better decision then going from a 1/2 antagonist to a full antagonist trust me you dont want anything to do with methadone...as for going into a rehab you can but your going to be there a wile to detox off sub you could still do this from home....the key here I think is going to be aftercare...it will give you the tools and skills to stay clean ...as addicts we need to change the very way we think to get well.....I wish you all the best on however you decide to come off this stuff keep posting ....God luck and God bless.....Gnarly

I second that motion against the methadone clinic. They will lure you in and make it hard for you to come off it. I did the same thing and ended up being on 90mgs for 2 years and was high as a kite most of the time. You don't want to have to go there everyday, wait in line, and have to deal with the people there. Detox is the best bet. They will make you feel comfortable and ease you off of it with minimal withdraws.

My choice wud be detox hunny, Only coz i have been in this game for the last 18 years. I went on a methadone programm 9 - 10 years ago. it was only ment to be a short trem thing. But guess what yep i'm still on it & it's going to take me a long long time to get of the dose i'm on.
Ye i no methadone can be very good & it do's do the job. But you have to be strong. Like you said you don't wanna go from 1 habit to another. Take the chance of detox, ye it will be hell for a few days but then its all the way up from there on in. Methadone can be a gift from god for some people or sent from hell for others. I hope more people that take methadone post for you so you can get a few different views, This is a very inportant time & chioce you have to make. Go with what you think, but go informed fully with all the info you can get xxxx thinkin of you

hi dear im a 54 yr male,i was eating 12/ 1,000 mil of vicoden a day.this went on for 6 years. i put myself into detox,ive heard to many bad things about methadone.you will be sick for the first 2 to 7 days, but once u get past that it gets better. i use tramodol 50 mil for the pain.this it what has helped me. ive been clean fo 2 mts now its still a long road but just take it one day at a time.if your put your mind to it you can make it work
