HI....well theirs no shame in going into a detox center if you need to....only you can decide that most doctor would rather error on the side of safety so most will tell you check yourself in somewhere if thats an option....as for most of us where more comfortable at home then in a hospital...you might ask a friend to help you out the first couple of days so your not all alone ...we have had many members here kick oxy...some with the help of an in pacent rehab if you think you need the extra care and follow up support then check your health ins. most cover it...we will support you in what ever you decide to do...keep posting and reading the posts.....good luck and God bless.....Gnarly
By the way, I had a hefty habit. I was taking 300 to 400mgs of oxy or hydro a day. So who knows, you may feel great after a week or two!
We're you eating and staying hydrated the time you fainted? If it was low blood pressure that caused it the last thing you would wanna do is go with clonodine. It might be a good idea to get a blood pressure cuff so you can take your blood pressure each time before taking it if you do get it prescribed.
I felt almost completely normal after a month except for some lingering fatigue. I felt much better after the first week though.
Yes, I'm really familiar with the Thomas Recipe and would try it again because I think it did help. Also found that mega doses of vit c and hot baths helped although maybe this time I won't make it to hot ;) thanks Tramahater. Tell me, how long did it take for you to feel "normal" again? Some say 6 months, others 3 I'm sure it varies but just wondering what your own experience was.
Yes, you need to be safe. I have taken clonidine for opiate WD, and it does work to decrease symptoms. Nothing takes everything away, but it's bearable! There are OTC things you can get to help also.
Yes I think maybe a combination of too hot water and maybe wacky blood pressure might have played a role. I've heard of clonidine to help and might get some from my doc to help the wds. But yes, I'm definitely going to consult my doc before doing anything and see what he says. Maybe if he gives his blessing to try it again at home I'll do it and if I find myself fainting then I'll definitely get my butt to a inpatient detox. Want to get clean but do it safely.
You may be the only one who knows for sure if you can do it at home vs hospital environment. If a doc will help, you can probably manage at home. Your fainting episode may have been a result of too hot water in the bath or BP issue. Either way, you do need to talk to your doctor before starting again, just to be safe! : )
