starting to ween myself

hello. I have been using various opiates for over 18 months now. started on Vic's, then moved to Roxy's, where I am now. I am on about 10 30's a day now. I want to stop so bad... but find myself saying tomrrow, every day. Financially, it is killing me... I am in pain, but want to get off these things now.

I was wondering what the bext way to ween yourself off is. I have read through some posts and some people have the same ideas I do... start lowering the doses as time goes along. I have also heard that you can use Methadone to help. How long am I looking at fightnig this? Is it going to be as bad as some people have said?

please.. and advice would be good to hear.

I also have considered speaking to my doctor however, I am concerned about it going on a nmedical report and having problems possibly getting pain meds in the future if I need it. plus,is there any possiblikty that this will hurt me in any case down the road? Health insurnace, life insurtnace, ect? Jobs, anything from speaking to the doc?

Hi,

I also told myself that I would taper off my Norcos (40 to 50 a day) but I never seemed able to do it.  I kept saying to myself wait until the next day..If you can do that great,
start today.

I have gone c/t and than relasped until finally I went to a DR and detoxed with a drug called suboxone.  That drug did not get me high at all and every visit my DR dropped the
dosage, until I was on 1mg every other day.  Than I just stopped with no w/d's.

Every one is different, I am sure others will be along soon to tell you about the Thomas receipe and other suggestions.

I can say this I have never felt better than being drug free.  I live in Florida where there are
Pain management CLinics around every street.  I was on Norcos for a long time and I went bankrupt.

So I have been in your shoes (or close to it) and I am free today.

Hang in there.
