Pain Pill Addiction

I have been tapering off of pain meds for a little while now in the hopes of being able to stop with the most minimal withdrawals as possible. last year, I was taking so many pills, i could say i was taking probably 50+, 30 mg  roxi's a day, and that was just the Roxi. I was getting scripts for 120 80's, 240 30's, 180 Perks and 120 Vicodin 10mg with 3 refills monthly on the Vicodin. I have tapered myself down to only 90 Opana and 180 Roxi. Which is basically, 3 times a day, of 1 40mg Opana and 1-2 Roxi's per day. So 3 Opana's and 4-6 Roxi's. I kow this is still a lot, but compared to what I was taking, this is actually SO MUCH less than what i was taking. I would take 15 Roxi in one shot 5 times a day. Does anyone have any idea's of how I can continue to taper down, i'm feeling like im getting stuck at this point, I feel like i came a long way, but I want to get to just One Opana 40mg and 1 Roxi shortly.... I'm trying to get to the point that i dont have to take Roxi at all, then maybe i could taper off of the Opanafrom 3 a day to 2 a day, and then maybe none god willing. If anyone has any help to offer, please I am trying so hard to stop taking these pills.... I hate them so much! And I hate myself for getting so addicted to them. I never did drugs before these, I was so against them, no I am just a simple junkie, only on not illegal drugs, but they are worse!!!!.

I was originally taking the pain killers do to deterioration of my wrist bones, I had a surgery and now have been pretty much without pain, it took me a long time to get the surgery. We have done really well in the tapering process so far, I came clean to him and told him that i was way out of control, that I was also buying them on top of what he was giving me. that alone should tell you how much I was taking since I was getting over 100 of every pain killer there was, Vic's, Perk's, Roxi's and Oxi. I was taking so many I cant believe I never overdosed. I know it may sound crazy, but compared to a year ago, I almost feel like I'm taking barely anything. I know that's not the case. And I know I need to keep moving ahead, But 3 Oxi and 4-6 Roxi a day compared to 50-60 a day feels like I'm a different person.
So for now my doctor is giving me a little less each month. It's starting to get harder now though, all I do know is that I just can't wait to be normal again, not have to take pills or have to worry if I have them! Thank you everyone for your warm welcome.

Please stay here and don't give up. You need to get off these meds. You're doing great so far. How long have you been tapering? What were they prescribed for?

Hi and welcome! I am so glad you found this site. This is a great place to get advice, encouragement, and support. Unfortunately we are not allowed to give out tapering advice. I agree with IBKleen, it's best to discuss this with your doctor. Please stick around and keep posting. We are here for you. You can do this!!!

Hi & Welcome!

Are you doing a taper under doctor's supervision? I ask because tapering is tricky business and most people don't make it. I can tell you I tried again and again and once I got to a certain point I went off the taper every time. You are on a high dose so a doctor's plan would be best.

I am assuming you have pain? Did you speak with your doctor about an alternative treatment plan? What will you do once you are done with the pills?

Glad you found your way here. Stick around. this is a great bunch of folks who will help you through every step of the way. And keep talking. It does help.
