Firstly hello to all on this forum.....   I have never looked for help in this way but am hoping that a few of my many questions will be answered here.....   I have been on 80mg per day methadone prog for about 6 months..  ifelt goo for about a month (really good)  but since then I have no appetite at all and have lost so much weight but every one else seems to gain and feel like **** in the mornings with stomach pains and stiff aching hands wrists and shoulders..  does this sound normal or could it be something else and the methadone is masking it..when I have taken my daily dose I feel good after an hour but not great.. i want to come off it now...  thank you for your time ..  Rich..

Hello... I know methadone should be tapered slowly.  6 months on and 80mgs is not too big or too long so that's a good thing.  Ive never used it so I dont know your symptoms but definitely ask your doctor.. Its cant hurt to make sure its nothing else.. one of our cl's gnarley is pretty knowledge about methadone so hopefully he will be around soon to help answer your questions..

Hi there,

There are some members on here with a lot of experience with methadone. They will be along shortly to talk to you. Have to talked to your doctor about starting a slow taper from it and also the side effects (if thats what they are, your right to be concerned that it could be something else) that your experiencing? Have a look at the Thomas Recipe and Amino Acid Protocol in the health pages (links at the bottom right of this page).
