Will anything help with withdrawls from hydrocodone and xanax

I wrote on here earlier explaining my situation but thought I should ask if anyone knows of any sort of herbal or anything that could help to ease the withdrawl symptoms? I don't know that I can handle hurting this bad and comming off of two different drugs at the same time. Hydrocodone and xanax both in very high doses. Hydrocodone is over 200mg. per day and xanax is at least 5 mg before bed but the 5 mg does not even phase me anymore. I feel like I could take 8 and then feel the high. 5 just gets me by as well as the 200+mg of the hydrocodone. Someone please help me! I am lost! I'm the best mommy in the world, my kids have it all. They have love, security and every toy and game a child could ever ask for. I know inside of me that even though I am high constantly and function just like normal that this is not ok. The drugs anymore don't get me high. They make me normal and withdrawl free. I don't even know who I am anymore. I need to change, if I don't I just can feel my body is going to shut down. I have 7 out of 10 symptoms of kidney failure already and am just sick of being dependant on anything in my life just to feel well or normal. Any ideas of something to ease my withdrawls. I haven't started yet but I think with the high amount I take I should not do thid cold turkey. So what is the best thing to do? Write out a plan and stick to it no matter what? I really have never been here in a situation like this before and just need people who understand for advice and support. Thank you for reading and I look forward to some positive responses! Please no insults. This is hard enough and that would be very in humane of someone!

I was in the same situation you are in now. However, at the time I did not have this forum and the info I needed. So I tried to stop the xanax & hydros at the same time c/t. BAD IDEA! I agree with jake. Talk to your dr about another benzo that is not as strong to help you with the hydro w/d and then taper off the benzo. I am taking Restoril (temazepam) ..it is a benzo specifically for insomnia. You may want to look into that...it will help you sleep to get thru the hydro w/d.

Dear Missbhaven 24--please do not go cold turkey on either--especially the Xanax.  I posted yesterday abouy my parents but I personally know all too well about both hydro's and xanax.  I started taking xanax 2 years ago after having massive panic attacks due to caring for my ill grandmother.  I still take them when need to avoid such attacks-they are now embedded in my brain.  I have done all the research you can imagine per xanax and you absolutely 100% do not want to just stop.  Please, get a doctor to help you tapper down and I assure you--you can do it.  5mg. is a lot, I know and not one to mess with on your own.  Also, figure out why you need the xanax and put some focus into that---most of us think only about the drug we take and not enough time is spent figuring why we take it.  This is where the docs go wrong when prescribing.  They let us remedy our own psycholigical needs by masking the real issue. I know I need it and you need to know too.  As for the hydros...I get it too.  I started taking them when my business partner/doctor gave them to me for cramps.  And then he gave them, gave them, and kept on giving.  That was 6 years ago.  To this day, I still want and or need a vicodin when I can obtain one, but can live without one.  Somehow they are always there.  This too is not a beast you want to tackle alone.  I am a mild case of what could be and I keep it that way.  My post about my parents is exactly what I never want to be and you my friend can do it as well.  You can not do this alone and there is nothing wrong with getting the proper help and from what you are saying it is necessary.  Those beautiful kids need you and you need them so take a deep breath, realize you are not alone, ask the professionals who got you into this mess to get you out.  Be the good mom that you are to yourself.  You are young enough for your body to heal, but you have slowly bring it back and please, please, please do not give up--you already know what needs done, but it must be done right.  I am here if you need me.

Hi there and welcome to the forum! I can't help you with the hydro's but I can help you with the xanax. It's a benzo and cannot be stopped CT. You'll have to taper it off very slowly. From what I understand you're taking about 5mg/day. Do you have the opportunity to go see a dr and establish a tapering plan? You see all tapering plans are switching to a long acting benzo like valium, less wd's coz it stay longer in the blood and valium doesn't give you the peak in your blood that gives you the high like xanax does.
There's a great site where you can have tons of info:
http://www.benzo.org.uk/
and for the tapering plan from xanax:

Best of luck to you, feel free to pm me if you have more questions.

You need to do a Benzodiazapine crossover first.

Find a Doc that will cross you over to a long lasting benzo like Klonopin, then taper really slowly.

Im sure you know of the seizure risk with quitting benzos.
5MGs is really high of Xanax, and definently could cause some seizures if quit cold turkey, so dont do that.

Do  crossover first...after you get stable, do a taper from the Hydro. then start your taper from the Xanax.
Its going to take you a long time for a proper taper, but the slower the better.

Good Luck
