Scared and could use some help

I am a opiate user. I got hurt in a motorcycle accident and eventually started getting prescribed oxycodone 30 mgs and that was that. Anyway i recently have been trying to dial it down and get off of it but wierd things have been happening. My heart would skip sometimes but i wasnt too worried about that. Then about a week ago i would try and go to sleep n right before i fell asleep my heart would go crazy n beat really fast for about 15 seconds. Then it would kinda flutter n shake n go back to normal. I saw a doctor they have me wearing a heart monitor. My friend says its panick attacks but i cant help but think somethings seriously wrong. It happened again last night. Im deathly scared n worried about my heart just stopping. Any advice would b much i mean much appreciated.

Same EXACT thing happened to me.  I found taking BIG deep breaths, drinking some water, and not letting my head "freak" me out would help those episodes to pass.
I, too, had my bloodwork and vitals checked......you're healing...your nervous system and circulation are just "freaked" out cause they aren't used to having ZERO opiates flowing thru your brain and body.
Everytime it happened to me....I'd just say....relax girl, it's a sign you are healing.

Hang on.....if you've been assured there is nothing medically wrong.....I can tell you from my own personal experience.....they lessen in time.....and the less I "obsessed" when they occurred....the better I did.

hi and congrats on wanting to cut down/get off the pills....i would def keep talking to your doctor and be honest with him/her and let them know you want off the pills....that way you are safely doing down in your dosage....some quit CT and some taper...it's a personal preference....but if the heart thing continues, just keep seeing your doc.....you can do this...just hang on and it will get better....i have had the occasional "heart skipping" thing myself. Not fun.....so hang in there...

I cant thank u guys enough for caring and just giving me advice. I would knock it down little by little. Except once i got down too a real little bit. I would feel my heart race for about 15 seconds wen i try and sleep. It feels like my heart needs it to function. Im not on any other meds. Have no heart issues n have no heart issues in my family. Also i have never had a habit before.

Hey & Welcome! Congrats on your taper. What you're describing is 'normal' for some people in mild and in full w/d's. I'd like to ask you a couple of questions: How much have you reduced and by what kind of jumps? How long between each jump? Have you ever had a habit before? Are you on SSRI's or any other Meds? Are you prone to panic attacks or have you ever had heart issues yourself or in your family?

If this is causing you stress, go and get it checked by all means so that you can continue more peacefully with your plan. Stick with it! We're here.
