addiction to pain medication

my daughterinlaw has been on pain medication for 6 years, why you ask because the doctors have been to dumb to figure out that her problem was a ruptured dic in her back and they told her all her pain was in her head and just gave her more and more pills.  she is going to have her second surgery to correct this but she has been on pain meds for so long that she needs to detox and get off of them before they damage her body anymore, what can I do to help her?

What pain medication does she take, whats her daily dose. Some more specifics can help with what sort of help she needs and what she can expect. The key is does she want to get off the opiates, its nearly impossible to get and stay clean if your not fully committed. All you can do is support her in her effort to get clean, try to be understanding and non-judgemental about her situation.

does she want to quit the pills?  if so they are things you can do to help her detox...but sheh as to want it or it wont work.
